WRAS 3-Gun, 2012 Shooting Schedule @ Spruce Grove

There were 2 Dave Cs there! It looks like the other guy couldn't stay for the whole match, but I'm not sure who's who on some of the stages.

On shotguns and/or pistols, any optics put you in open.

On rifles either a) multiple optics or b) optics with a magnification greater than (1.25x or 1.5x I forget) puts you in open. If you, like me, have a 1.25-4x or similar, keeping it screwed down to min for the match is OK for standard.

In the States, it's Tac Optics, which is only one optic allowed on the rifle, any magnification. That really lead to the development of all the good 1-4x scopes that have popped up. Some guys run offset irons, for the close stuff, to comply as well. No bipods allowed and no optics on shotgun or pistol to stay in that division. Limited is irons on all three guns and anything else is in Open Division.

I love my Viper PST 1-4, and would hate to pull it off and go with irons. If we are going to break into divisions next time, I think I'll try to stay away from the veterans in Open! ;)

Sam I hate to turn this thread into a train wreck but I'm still of the opinion we should use "tac optics" as a example for the division.

As long as you only run one optic on your rifle, no matter the magnification I don't think people should be put into open. If the major US matches use this system of classification I don't see why we don't?

if we had enough people for a irons/1x+ tactical optic + open + heavies + (trooper anyone?) Im sure we would, and most us tourneys in tac ops shoot at 400 yrds, with no 4x limit, at least thats what http://3g unnation.com/sport_of_three_gun/divisions/tactical_optics tells me

but no throwing magnified in with irons/1x gotta give us people with good eyesight a chance

I totally agree with Easysauce... Being a 5 round a mag guy with no magnification or mods on anything except a side saddle on my shotgun, I'd prefer a class that runs stock sights or a red dot with no mag on rifle only. If that included 5 round mags only then I would be even happier, :D I know that's a stretch, but one can hope, right? (I just really don't want to invest in "the same gun as everyone else" aka an AR with LAR mags just to be able to make mid pack...)

I agree with red magnum. No need to reinvent the wheel, in regards to divisions. The big 3 gun matches have hashed this out for years and come up with what works. I like that idea.

Open (more than one optic, bipods allowed)
Tac Optics (one optic on any gun, any magnification, no bipods)
Limited (all irons (or 1x??), no bipods)
Heavy Metal (if enough interest)

With our stupid mag restrictions, maybe we could do a division for anything NON-AR? Would that even things out?

Just my thoughts.

Oh... I think I just got confused... That does sounds alright to me. Would leave me in the Limited class, :D

I'm not so sure there's enough guys running anything other than an AR... I didn't see one in my group on Saturday and only heard rumors that there was one other person not running an AR, LOL! I'm fine with what heyrosco listed for classes and sounds fair enough to me.

Heavy metal you say... Might be a good excuse to buy more guns? LOL!
