Wsm???

Yes, but you've never been able to buy shells for $35-40 a box.

I've never bought loaded ammo for this rifle when my grandfather gave it to me 35 + years ago he also gave me hundreds of Weatherby factory rounds and hundreds of NIB Weatherby brass in other words I've never had to pay for anything other than powder/primers/bullets.

Ya but your Weatherby looks like a mongaliod with it's stupid shoulder :)

How does one even begin to respond to a statement like that... :p

The 270 WSM certainly did nothing for the bullet that the Weatherby didn't accomplish better decades before. It only had a name that was more readily adopted for use by other rifle manufacturers.

It is only the willingness of other manufacturers to offer the WSM caliber in their rifles that will make it a long term successful cartridge. If Weatherby had been smart enough (or willing) to abbreviate their company name and license it's use by other rifle manufacturers we might have never had WSM calibers.

Although Weatherby is likely still in business because it has demanded you by it's firearms to get it's superior performance.

Weatherby was smart enough to make the Weatherby/Howa vanguard which in the states is a very popular and well priced rifle. They even had them in Walmart only for years... now they seem to be selling well in the states in gunshops. I would bet the Vanguard outsells the MKV by 2:1 at least, maybe 5:1.

And they come in the 270 and 300wsm...

but Redheaded kids look so Koooool and so do the Weatherby cases especially the shoulder...

Its those short fat WSM cases that look and feed like abortions... :p

I used to believe that the WSM was a solution to a problem that didn't exist. Then a bought a 300 WSM in a rifle I really liked. It turns out the calibre is pretty nifty as well. It is accurate, the recoil isn't as bad as I expected and the cartridge feeds reliably after I polished up the feedramp. Ammo is expensive (I don't reload for this cartridge). Gasoline is expensive also, but I don't plan on trading in my V8 anytime soon.

I still believe the WSM is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. So is every other 30 cal cartridge invented after the 30-06. However, the shooting game would be pretty dull if we didn't have them.

If I had a calibre that I really liked, I wouldn't trade it to buy a WSM. However, if I was shopping for a calibre, I would include a WSM on the list for consideration.

I've never met a fat kid that was able to lose weight and keep it off yet... :D

Oh, man, I thought you were going to say "I never met a fat kid I didn't like." :eek:Scared me for a second.

Ok, I'll fess up. I have a closet fascination with the .257 and 340 *cough*Weatherby*cough*. But I would rather have a 325 WSM.

What a load of hokey. Number 1, Hornady has interest in the RCM cartridges taking off, number 2 the 300 WSM is being chambered in every rifle BUT Ruger (the firearm company that Hornady sleeps with?) And I have personally never had a rifle not feed the WSM's just fine. The cartridge design has been the same for quite awhile. So are guns being made more intolerant to feeding?
Maybe they just need to put a venturi shoulder on it. Then it'll slide around slick as one of those giant, fat and retarded 378 Weatherby derivatives, eh?:p
Wonder why Hornady doesn't load them........

If you have WSM other than 270WSM, and 300WSM I suggest you save your brass. I have a 7mmWSM, and the availability is already starting to faid. Just a warning!!

Yeah. If I had jumped on that particular wagon, I think a set of dies and a couple bags of brass could keep me in business long after the last round of factory ammo rolled out the door. Even if I was not a reloader, I'd be looking at the stuff as a smart thing to hold.

It's almost like economic stimulus planning for Gunsmiths, though. All those rifles that will need to be rebarreled if the owner wants to use them....:D If there are any gunsmiths left by then. :(

Cheers
Trev

That's cause the 7wsm has a longer base to shoulder dimension, and the 7wsm has never sold well. Take a look almost everyone has dropped the 7wsm, even Winchester. If you run out of brass and factory loads have the barrel set back and turn it into a 7/300wsm. Might lose 25fps...but you will have brass. Cost something roughly 120-150 bucks to have that done.

There have been way to many 300wsm and 270wsm sold to drop the brass from production anytime soon. Been 8 years now since the wsm were released, and they still seem to be selling well.
