X2 .......and besides the fact that most game is shot within 100yds, maybe 200 at best, and all the improvements that the new stuff comes with is moot.303carbine said:A short mag compared to a standard cartridge makes for a lively debate but in the field a well placed shot by a 100 year old cartridge or from one of the new shorties is the standard to which they will be judged. In reality 100 fps one way or the other can't make up for skill or lack there of.

That all said, I've been itching to get a rifle in 7mm WSM since the outset. Not because I think there will be anything magic about it. But just because I want one to play with.![]()
I think that about sums it up...![]()
Yup, that would about say it all!
it's also thee reason I shoot so many wildcats, just because!

It really sucks trying to keep ahead of the game , doesn't it?stubblejumper said:I used to say the same thing. But whenever I get a rifle built to shoot one of the wildcats, someone commercializes it.![]()
Yeah... The winning trend is defintely toward the Short Fat cases in the competition circles...catnthehatt said:Wsm? I have a 6.5 and a 300, and a 6.5WSSM love 'em all.
A WSM holds the world one mile record and one of the 1,00 yard bench records.
Yhe 300 is geting more and more trigger time on the 1,000 yard cicuit, and we are seeing more of them at our range in hy=unting rifles also.
The WSSM we don't see too much, but they are out there for sure.
Thge 6.5WSSM is rewally cool, gets the job done cvery well in a long tube for 1,000 yard work, and in a hunting rifle gets more velocity than the 260 remington.
As v far as accuracy goes, the case is secondary to the bullet and barrel, IMHO.

I guess accuracy and efficiency have no place in the hunting world eh SuperSuperCub said:X2 .......and besides the fact that most game is shot within 100yds, maybe 200 at best, and all the improvements that the new stuff comes with is moot.

Russ...
Sure they have a place, but I'm sayin the most of the shots made are under 200yds and all that new "advantage" goes to waste.BIGREDD said:I guess accuracy and efficiency have no place in the hunting world eh Super![]()
