WTF?!? Is anyone elses SKS bent?!?

I think in that case I'd try altering the mount to fit the reciver rather than the other way around, but hard to say without seeing it in hand. If you can grind or file down the mount to make it fit over the high spot on the receiver you can't hurt the rifle, and if it doesn't work you only lose the mount and not the whole thing. But it should be an interesting project no matter which way you go.

I'm actually going to alter both. The high spot is somewhat preventing the mount from laying as flat as it could be. If youve seen how many marks this rifle has between the stock and bluing, its not a big deal to file a little off and re-blue. I'd only be taking a very small amount off the reciever but I think it will be worth it without making the rifle unsafe. I'm drilling and tapping it anyways, no concern for re-sale value. I doubt I'd ever get my money back, this is all for fun. And yeah, I'm gonna shoot the damn thing! :p

Well if she shoots good I would just call it a day. I would still buy one after an inspection if someone told me about it. I would not pay top dollar but I always lok for shooters and pristine ones to build upon. Enjoy it, that is what sks's especially D model are for.
