WTF?!? Is anyone elses SKS bent?!?

Ok guys, question: Is anybody elses SKS BENT? Ive been working on a drill and tap scope mount and went to start getting it ready to drill some holes and found a huge problem. My SKS-D is bent, twisted and distorted all to hell. Like it was used to club seals. Both sides of the reciever are distorted so the mount wont sit flat, and it looks like the barrel bends to the right. I never noticed it with irons and the red dot but now with a scope it is VERY obvious. Have a look at the pics, this is FUBAR!

It looks like the mount is fairly square to the reciever and the barrel is out. Its hard to tell though. This is some major bulls**t and I'm pissed. Anyone else have a crowbar for a rifle?
 
SKS aka Russian crowbar??

I will have to check mine when I get home but never had a problem with optics mounts on mine.
 
SKS-D is Chinese. Buddy, that is the most pitiful thing I have ever seen (no offence). Raise some Cain over it! And when you're done, pick up the phone and call Jim at Marstar. He'll sell you a perfectly new Chinese military SKS + extras, and will guarantee it!
 
I know, I was thoroughly disgusted when I saw it. I bought it from a member here but quite a few months back. Its a shame, that mount is almost perfect. I can adjust for perfect eye relief and still use the irons underneath it. I'll screw with it some more but man, this really sucks.
 
Thats to bad to see, but there are always solutions to these kinds of problems. First off were you satisfied the way it shot at the range with iron sights? If so I would work with it by using shim stock and mocking it up with a bore sighter on the bench. Maybe a different style of mount located further back on the receiver. What kind of mount are you using?
 
That's awful. That's because of sh*t like this that people always question Norinco. I'd send that POS to the smelter and buy a Russian one.

BJ; with all due respect, there's only one solution for that disaster and its called the scrap metal heap. Quite frankly, I wouldn't consider it safe to shoot. This is not a criticism of Chinese made firearms, as most are very good to excellent. This is clearly an example of abuse and perhaps stupidity. I wonder if the original owner had it in a vice and applied too much pressure?

I asked this before but got no clear answer: other than the chrome-lined bore, what are the differences between the military and civilian versions?

EPIC differences that will blow your mind! I had one and stupidly sold it. It was a 60's-70's production factory 306 chinese military SKS. It was very tight fitting and the quality pretty much matched all the russians Ive handled. The wood wasnt as nice but the barreled action was superb. This POS is disgusting. Like they handed the factory over to a bunch of 12 yr olds. You know what really sucks? Because its an SKS-D I payed TWICE as much as the military 306! Military = High quality, Civilian = JUNK!
 
this has nothing to do with quality control , who ever did this can do it to a russian SKS and get the same result .
 
I'm not a gunsmith, so take this with a grain of salt...

Looks like someone, even at the factory, put the receiver in a vise and never blocked the inside of the receiver: it looks crushed in slightly on both sides, with the rest of the bending created by firing a crushed receiver.

I know most people don't do it, but if I have to vise and/or wrench a receiver I make a block of hardwood a micrometer bigger than the inside of the receiver and jam it in gently: it gives me peace of mind!
 
Ive never clamped it in a vice, or done anything that would cause this. The soft jawed clamps holding the mount on are the first time its ever been clamped since Ive owned it. It was screwed before that. Theres a bit of damage from the previous owner, things I cant explain but this seems a bit much for someone to do without meaning to. Previous owner only fired 50 rds. through it since new and Ive put about 150 through it. It functions great, so I believe it left the factory like this. The action is still pretty smooth and accuracy is just fine for the 50 yd. offhand shooting we've done with it. I geuss I'll just stick with the vortex on scout mount...But I'd like to see if anyone else has an SKS like this. Specifically chinese civilian models.
