WTF is it about the 45ACP?

Magicchip,

I'm surprised. I like shooting .45, but I love shooting 10mm.

The differance of course is that you might give up looking for that 1 last 45 casing, but will spend the next 2 hours looking for the last 10mm, which is well hidden in a large pile of .40SW

The problem with .45acp is you become a brass slut, crawling around gun ranges on your hands and knees looking for that one missing casing.

Yep, that'd be me. :D Looking for my .45 ACP brass has sharpened my eyesight. I can spot a piece of .45 ACP brass from 10 yards away....:p

Yea , I love my 45 and I'm a brass whore .
On problem I have with it is some 45 brass uses a small primer .
Sucks when reloading .
But I love the "soup cans " way more than the others .

That would be Winclean brass with WIN NT stamped on it, I being putting it aside for now, but will reload a batch later and just use it by itself.

yep, I have around 200 pieces of this sitting somewhere in my basement. I guess I'll have to reload those..

there is nothing like the ol 45. still the best and most versatile of them all, where I came from, its a 45 or nothing.

I'm developing that 'super vision' for .45 brass too... though last time I was @ the range somebody had left .50 AE all over the place. Totally threw my radar off--.45 looked a lot more like .40 S&W in comparison to that ridiculous oil drum of a cartridge case...

.45 isnt a handgun. 45acp is the alpha and omega of pistol cartriges.
1911A1 is the alpha and omega of handguns though.

(im puting my flame suit on right now)

I took my wife the range years ago when I first got my pistol. She shot maybe five rounds and wasn't interested in more. She came with me maybe three times but stopped. I wondered why. Then again her job was to catch my casings as they fell and I sort of berated her if she lost one. Then We as a family, me, my wife and son who was five at the time would all scrounge for casings both 9mm that I shot in my Glock and .45 ACP that I one day wanted to shoot in a 1911.
So after three trips she stopped coming to the range with me.
Is their a moral here? Maybe not but she should have enjoyed picking up the brass as much as I did.

On topic, i just bought my first .45, and love it...... love it!! I hated to see my 9mm go for the funds, but none, nada, zero regrets.....
Off topic, but most have seemed to touch on it, how do you go about reloading? I know i hate shelling out the $25+ for 50shells of factory, but how do you figure out what you need and how to do it to reload?
Usually i treat myself to 1box of .45's, and shoot as much .22 as i want to at the range, but it still adds up!!

Read the reloading section as much as you can. It's really easy and fun.
Start by buying as many reloading manuas as you can find. Then you need a press, dies, a tumbler. All of this you can buy on the cheap. I've seen lee pro press go as low as 120 in the EE.
Then you set your press up with the dies, buy primers, use your saved and cleaned brass, and buy powder and bulllets, and set everything up according to your manual. Again, it's really easy. Pay attention to what you're doing and you will be producing quality ammo in no time at all. If you ever have a question, you will get your answers here.
Have fun with it.

I pay $25.00 for a box of factory JHP, but not for FMJ. I pay about $18.00/box of factory at Wholesale. I am also getting some commercial reloaded stuff for about $12.40/box of FMJ.
