let's face it shooting a 45 means you've done all the rest, you've played, experimented, searched and researched and realized that it really is the only way to go. Power, size and accuracy almost perfectly balanced - there are few things that can be done with a pistol that can't be done superbly with a 45 auto. Bullseye, action, even bear defense for crying out loud (talk to Gunnar) it's amazing what can be done simply by adjusting the load. As for the 1911, I've shot a huge number of handguns - Browning - CZ- Berettas (9,380,32,22) - Glock (9,40,45 - ported Arotek prototype with integral laser)- S&W virtually every gun in the gun of the week catalogue - Desert Eagle ( .357, .41, .44, .50) - 454 Casull - genuine Colt SAA- even single shots in .223 and .308, nothing feels as good in your hand as a 1911, including guns with adjustable backstraps, the only thing that comes close is a free pistol with orthopedic grips and while that might work for me it certainly wouldn't for the next guy to pick it up. You can pretty much guarantee the 1911 will work for everyone who picks it up. The 1911 redefines "natural pointer".
