Where might a person find repro russian WW 2 uniforms? I found some original gear but it is to expensive for me.

Also a question on pattern 37 web gear. Did they make any belts larger than a 26" waist? I have 4 belts and they are all small. Also after assembling the belt with straps, bren pouches and a couple of pistol ammo pouches I find that when wearing this rig that the straps keep slipping off my shoulders. Is there something that keeps these straps from falling off shoulders?
THANKS.

Usually WW2 belts are on the small side, I have some Post War British ones (almost identical to WW2 with brass bits) that go up to 50" . Undo the buttons, Slip the brace/straps under the shoulder straps, redo the buttons.

I dunno.......the guy on the left looks an awful lot like JP....Schultz is definitely not that dashing and debonair....not to mention he probably didn't see a lick of time in the field anyhow. ;)

As for Russian stuff, these guys are good, bought a tonne of stuff.

email to 'Alex' he speaks english, is a good chap and will look after your wants. the organization of the website leaves something to be desired, but his costs are reasonable.

Bitter,

Where is Comrade Alex located? Interesting stuff. Some of that kit would go nice with the WW2 dated Tokarev TT33 I just ordered.:)

Alex runs what used to be an old Soviet Theatre company in Kirov in the Ukraine, when the red star fell they turned to more 'enterprising' solutions and began selling old uniforms and repros they were making up. In the last three years their stuff has really expanded and gotten better, its where I have bought all my stuff....belts, boots, hats, uniforms the works.

Although I have not purchased any of his WWII stuff, it looks good. The thing I like about his stuff is that it's not Saville Row tailored stuff, its a little rougher, more like a good soviet peasant soldier or serf conscript would have gotten.

I was a little hesitant in dealing with them when I found them just because of the stigma and scams that come out of the old soviet bloc countries, but after connecting with Alex and conversing some, I felt comfortable enough to take the plunge. The thing I like about Alex is that he always sends me some extras, be it old soviet postcards or Russian tube cigarettes *yeech* (but fun)

Its just another option to choose from. Hope that helps

Things Military has a long belt (48" total lenght) Post War O&M Ltd that fits me even with a thick winter coat on, and I'm 40" around the waist. :dancingbanana:

Dimitri

Edit: Sorry the MEC was the pouches I ordered from them.

lots of stuff on ebay but buyer beware gotta ask questions, confirm shipping ect. so as not to be ripped.
thats were i picked up 95% my ww2 german gear. now all i need is a group in my area................and we can invade poland !

The shoulder straps on 37 pattern were to be worn through the eppaulettes of the BD.
Now I have a question were Canadian parachute wings always worn on the left breast and have they always looked the same? Also did the Canadian army in WW2 have pilots such as gliders and spotting planes?

Bittermansbro,

What were shipping charges like to get the stuff over to our side of the planet?

Can't recall at the moment, but I keep all my receipts from the purchases at work, so on Monday I will take a look at what the last one was and let you know! Not unreasonable though.

I get odds and sods of 37 pattern gear occisionally, support troops had it in the UK and in trg until the 80's. A mate runs a surplus shop nearby and I take him shooting. I'll have a look this week for anything in particular?

Looking at my records, its between 30-45 bucks for shipping. I spent 40 one time and got a tunic, officer's riding boots and sam browne. Not bad really.

I looked already and mainly ammo pouches and straps. I'll check his other shop on Thursday, next town over!

Thanks Bittermansbro. Shipping seems not too bad.

When I put on the sam brown and other period gear I end up looking alot more like Goering than Patton
:runaway:

Haha, well wear a girdle then.....its like being Doris Day underneath, and then you will be Patton on top.

 Wait, wait, that didn't come out right....nevermind.

'37 gear comes in S,M,L sizes I believe.Using shoulder straps and loading them up with something other than pappys' pipe tobbaco should drive the load down.Try 6 fully loaded bren mags,6 grenades, full water bottle, bayonet and 120 rounds in bandoliers and it should sit better on ya Muzzle......hers some of my '37 gear.
