does any one have a ball park value for a ww2 nazi marked luger all original parts, with the original holster and wrench. it is about 70% finish. providence can be obtained.

$650-$900 In my opinion. Depending on condition (without seeing pictures). But if you were to get a new non restricted barrel made up for it, torch the old one and send to RCMP... then get the new Luger verified... it would probably go for about $1100-$1400, depending on condition again. (My 4.1'' barrel cost me $250 to get made and installed) I know that no one wants to destroy a matching gun, but its just harder to sell a prohib and get some decent scratch for it unless it is a real nice rig/collectors piece.

but wouldn't this be a collecters piece? talken by a father served with the infantry in italy. no other owners, just father then son? (edit) and the german officer.

WW2 Lugers are in the 12(7) prohib category. Sell it to my dad who's got 12(6) and he can give it to me as a 12(7). Don't even think about rebarrelling it, that's crazy.

With a replacement barrel it will be worth peanuts, because the historic value is gone.

Why would you ever consider selling it?

Without any info, or pictures it wouldn't make much sense to comment on the value of it...

It's all matching, but does a mag match? maybe 2 mags? Whats the toggle code, the chamber date? It could be a "Ku" Luger, a Kreighoff etc. etc. Too many variations, please post pictures if you can.

I am a very small time Luger collector myself, they can be worth anywhere from just a few hundreds, to several thousands.

not me, deer friend. his father obtained it, sent it home in pieces (ww2). kept it until buddy was of age. gave it to him in the 60's. he registered in the mid 70's as prohibited? he want's to leave it to his sisters son. who doesn't have prohibited or restricted. i told him making a dewat out of it wasn't on (waste of history), thought maybe leaving it with his dads regiments museum, or selling it. any sugestions? can his sisters son get a prohibited?

I would sell it... to me :) Seriously I will buy it if for sale and at a fair price, it will be right at home with my German Militaria collection.

But "his sister's son" may be able to get the gun through the 12(7) thing, I believe all he needs is his RPAL. But selling it to me would be much easier ;)

Why is the Luger prohibited?

If I have just been given a P38 that was brought back from WWII Italy by my Grandpa, and I have my RPAL, and am going to register it.. Is this not possible?

Thanks,
-Ryan

Lugers are not prohibited by name, but the standard P.08s with a 4" barrel are classed as prohib due to the short barrel. It is just an issue with the barrel length.

You might not be able to register your P38, but I have heard of them making some exceptions... so you never know. It might be worth a shot if that is what you want to do, if not, just zip it :)

thank you every one for your input. i'll try to get more info on it. i don't think he realy wants to sell it, but he want's to get out of the whole gun game. as stated he would wan't to leave it in the family. if i could obtain a prohibited i would shmooze him until the cows came home. any way he doesn't need money, thats not the reason. thats why i suggested his dad's regimental museam, as i thought his sisters son wouldn't be able to get a prohibited. again thanks. regards, king66
