Please correct me if I'm wrong but after WWII there were quite a few ME109s available on the cheap for nations such as Israel. Spain had both early and late models and so did Switzerland who had a lot of perfectly good aircraft from all combatant nations that were flown their by their pilots and crew for various reasons. Switzerland interned the crews/pilots and kept the aircraft. Not sure if they utilized them or not.
This is what I found on it-it could be wrong and I'm looking for more detailed info on this. It's very interesting topic:
Soon after war there was a conference of some kind of Allied officials where use and production of German designed arms (all of them) was discussed.
Apparently soviets where mad that French(and possibly others) kept German lines of production open for FW-190 and other planes, service lines for repair of Panthers was churning refurbs as well.
In one of articles there was a mention of French setting up production lines for MG42s and some other small arms.
Bottom line-conference ended with agreement that nobody will be allowed new production of German arms of any kind and sale and use of captured equipment would be halted as well.
That's the reason Czechs stopped manufacturing ME-262,Hetzer SP gun and german MG's.Israel was the only place where German surplus showed up,most of the times illegally or half legal way.
Of course everyone found ways around those restrictions-French re-engendered some of the planes and kept producing them,Russians produced few models of subs in effect re-skinned U-boot etc.
If anyone has any more info on this topic please share.PM if you like
