i shoot a 338 wm tikka t3 with 225gr reloads. The recoil if just fine with a limbsaver on it some people need to toughen up.
I own both, t3 in 7mm mag, t3x in 300win, X-bolt white gold in 338, X-bolt mc millan in 300win
I like all of them a lot, they ALL shoot sub MOA or better with factory ammo, recoil is a non-issue on any of the rifles.
The tikkas I have put in Bell and Carlson stocks and they are worth every penny. Not only does the stock upgrade help with accuracy but it did wonders with recoil also. The 7mm and 300 tikka kick less than some of my 308 rifles, I can shoot them all day with pleasure... couple things I like more on the browning is the safety and magazine and mag release, I came close to losing my tikka mags a couple times already.
I guess somehow the release button got pressed or caught up on something in the bush. The magazine comes off very easy on these rifles... luckily I managed to notice it before it fell out.I'm curious how you nearly lost your Tikka mags. I've never had one fall out. I do wish Tikka mags held five rounds...
I still really the T3.
Maybe look at a Tikka laminate in 308. Check your ego at the door, the 300's are gonna be a real ####er to shoot accurately. No advantage in killing power over a 308 at the typical hunting distances of 200 yards and in, especially in the hands of a new hunter

Agree with this statement 100% I have two T3x's now that I have put in B&C stocks. They definitely tighten up the groups and shoot nicer. I love my Tikkas, only gun that stays in the safe and only action I like building off of now. Currently own in 30.06, 300WSM, 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5 PRC.
