X-bolt vs Tikka T3x

i shoot a 338 wm tikka t3 with 225gr reloads. The recoil if just fine with a limbsaver on it some people need to toughen up.

I have owned both sold the browning and kept the tikka in 300wm , added a t3x recoil pad that I bought at cabelas for 11.99 . Rifle shoots lights out , not fussy on the two position safety , you might want to consider a Kimber hunter , light , accurate , dependable and a mod 70 type 3 position safety , my go to rifle is a Kimber Adironack in 308 with a scope , sling and 4 rounds it weighs 5lbs 11oz with manageable recoil and a pleasure to carry all day

A limb saver helps a lot. I don't think that qualifies for
"Toughen Up".
I used to shoot a Winchester model 70 in 300WM. I shot it well too. Nothing painful about it. Some just prefer something milder as I do. To each their own. If you like 300WM then good for you. If anyone finds lighter recoil more enjoyable then a light rifle with magnum power is not the best choice.

I own both, t3 in 7mm mag, t3x in 300win, X-bolt white gold in 338, X-bolt mc millan in 300win

I like all of them a lot, they ALL shoot sub MOA or better with factory ammo, recoil is a non-issue on any of the rifles.

The tikkas I have put in Bell and Carlson stocks and they are worth every penny. Not only does the stock upgrade help with accuracy but it did wonders with recoil also. The 7mm and 300 tikka kick less than some of my 308 rifles, I can shoot them all day with pleasure... couple things I like more on the browning is the safety and magazine and mag release, I came close to losing my tikka mags a couple times already.

I'm curious how you nearly lost your Tikka mags. I've never had one fall out. I do wish Tikka mags held five rounds...
I still really the T3.

I guess somehow the release button got pressed or caught up on something in the bush. The magazine comes off very easy on these rifles... luckily I managed to notice it before it fell out.

Maybe look at a Tikka laminate in 308. Check your ego at the door, the 300's are gonna be a real ####er to shoot accurately. No advantage in killing power over a 308 at the typical hunting distances of 200 yards and in, especially in the hands of a new hunter

That’s funny “check you ego at the door”...... truer words have never been spoken, not to rain on your parade but if your a new hunter and just starting out with a 300 mag someone is not guiding u in the right direction, if you must have a 30 cal rifle .308 win or 30-06 is all you need, if I was you get a 7mm-08 and enjoy your time afield and at the range.
I shot a 7mm Wby and or a 300 Wby mag for years and I now shoot/hunt with 6.5-284 and or a 280 AI.....,

If your going to hunt Grizzly get yourself a 300 mag !

I used to Shoot a 30-06 had a Tikka t3 Never felt under gunned for black bear I now shoot a 6.5CM And same deal but with less recoil and a lighter gun. I would Check out a 30-06 if you want to go 30 cal that extra recoil in a light gun can be a pretty unpleasant learning curve

7mm08 or 308. Keep that gun. If you want a larger cartridge later, buy it in the same rifle as your first. Keep them identical. Everything will feel natural. Shooting each will make you a better shot, builds your confidence.

Could get into a7rem mag for the second gun, and still keep the 7mm08. Should you get into reloading bullets you would still have 7mm bullets for both.

I think it’s wise to have a spare rifle anyhow.

Agree with this statement 100% I have two T3x's now that I have put in B&C stocks. They definitely tighten up the groups and shoot nicer. I love my Tikkas, only gun that stays in the safe and only action I like building off of now. Currently own in 30.06, 300WSM, 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5 PRC.

I put an M40 pattern B&C stock on my T-3 varmmt, if feels nicer to shoot, but I can't say that it made a noticeable difference in accuracy.

I have the Browing X-Bolt stainless stalker in .308. I love the rifle. The flush mag, 60 degree bolt throw, and tang safety are great features to me. Can't speak for the Tikka as I've never owned one. I can say that my Browning is snappy enough shooting the 180 grain .308s. I would not want to shoot a .300WM in that gun and certainly would not recommend it for a newbie.
