X Bolt ??

I bought a X-Bolt in 308 Winchester a couple of years ago and have had problems with feeding from the magazine numerous times. If I use a full magazine (4 rounds), the second cartridge often does not get picked-up after the first cartridge is fired. It seems like the cartridges in the magazine are sliding forward under recoil, then the shoulder gets slightly stuck in the feed lips of the magazine with the head of the case remaining slightly lower than the bullet end of the cartridge. When this situation occurs the bolt slides over the head and the cartridge is not pushed forward into the chamber. in addition, the magazine does not fully seat if you try to install it with the bolt closed. It will only fully seat (properly latch) if the bolt is open. I have searched the internet a few times looking for a fix and noticed others have had this same problem. I have not seen any clear advice on how to fix this issue. I have lost confidence in this rifle.

Everything you just described is what I'm dealing with as well with the 7-08.

Mine had nothing to do with recoil, just cold temps. Test for yourself, Load up a magazine, put it in the freezer for a bit, then slide the top round off. The rest of the rounds wont move up. And no there was no dirt or moisture freezing in the magazine, just weak springs.

look at the second round's shoulder, the part below the neck:
some black plastic on the magazine must be rubbing it.
when it gets colder, it get more tight.
I sanded this part off a bit and it gets much better now

I started all this to help make up my mind on weather to get an X Bolt, and have decided to look elsewhere, many hours of on line research unveils alot of x bolt issues ,primarily magazines. I have enough Tikkas so probably HS precision stocked Howa 1500 will be my choice.
