Very nice Doublegun, Did you build reamers etc for it?.
I'm using 450marlin dies, and the reamer was a 458wm reamer I had shortened by Dave Manson.

Very nice rifle indeed! ....... What does that weigh as shown?
I had everything lined up to build one two years ago. The donor, dies, brass, bullets, the barrel ordered and paid for. After six month the sponsor smith (who's no longer a sponsor) still hadn't received my barrel and couldn't give an eta. He offered me a refund and I took it. By then I had bought my .375 Ruger Alaskan which filled the role of short barrel thumper. Still like the idea of the .458x2" in a short bolt action. One day maybe.
Fantastic double gun.
Hopefully the usual cast of characters won't turn this into a silly bear defense thread or a silly CRF vs PF for bear defense rifles thread and keep it about your excellent work.
I read a article on the 458x2" when I was a kid, and wanted to build one since.
...I went with Leupold QRW bases and rings the bases do not over hang the action....]
Same thing happened to me but in my case it was the 505 Gibbs. Still haven't pulled the trigger on that one yet.
Beautiful Rifle Josh! Way to go! I wish I had half the metal working skills you do! Can't wait to see a range report.

Do it. You aren't getting any younger - build it while you can enjoy it.
Just did...
