XCR and cratering

I have no other comment, other than the US DOS recently increased export license fees for individual applications, and annual fees for licensed exporters. As well they came back and retroactively increased the fee (bureaucracy in best effect)

This fee will obviously be passed on to the end user. The shipment size will depend upon how this translates.

For basic knowledge; now at KAC we charge $500 for each export application, due to the cost of the license, and the efforts and salaries of those who need to staff this through the system at DDTC/DOS.

Secondly, you also need to factor in the efforts of the business in Canada which has to send paperwork in for the IIC and certify the DSP-83's

Why? I hear this alot... "Its alot of work for dealers to import rifles and parts etc." This is all part of being in the firearms industry, Its your job! If its such a burden to run this type of business then don't. Lets not forget that their making a living doing this AND doing something they love aswell....Now that being said, I do appreciate that we have alot of Canadian dealers here, I just hate hearing the guilt trip about this aspect of their business .....

Heh - it just means more time and effort - and this translates into increased costs. Guilt trip has nothing to do with it, there are easier ways to make money so many firearms dealers do it for the love of what they do, and the belief that it is important. And it certainly is.

So does that mean that becuase you like your job you can do it without cost and for free to boot? Cool, what exactly do you do .. I mean if you do it well and you like it... I'm sure that there are those here that will gladly let you do it for free...

I mean I like my job and I think I do it pretty well But I actually like to get paid for it... I'd really love to find a truck driver with you zest for work... I have about 18 tonnes of stuff that needs to be moved from Ontario to the island...

So you guys are suggesting that our Canadian dealers make nothing for money....??? The EE is a good example of how good this industry is... Have you seen the photo gallery lately??? look at some of the stuff out there, or should I say the "money pit's"....

And your point.....
It's a bad thing to make money?
It's a bad thing to work hard to make money?

I'm not suggesting anything... You on the other hand seem to think that bashing dealers is OK who put their cash on the line to do things... They take the risk and your response is to whine, complain, ##### and moan about prices.. When called on it you switch tacks..... Pick ONE argument you think you can win, please...

First it was you are tired of the hard work thing and now it's the money they make.. When you have you $$$$ on the table (invested in one of these businesses) then you have a right to talk about the money these guys do or do not make..

No, In the beginning XCRmonger made it sound like the XCR's in Canada were way over priced, by saying her XCR's go for 1500 down state side. Hence this whole hijack discussion.... After the gentlemen from wolverine came in and explained things with more accurate info, I clearly agreed that the price was fair... As far as this whole import/paperwork topic goes, All I was saying is that, I hear people talk all the time about how our "poor" dealers have to do so much work to import stuff and this kinda bugs me because it is clearly paying off for these dealers to do this..... this stuff gets bought up quick, and this industry is strong. I have no problem with dealers making money, "profit" is not a dirty word in my book. I do value and appreciate our dealers and I do support them all. I just wonder sometimes why this keeps coming up in discussion, Its part of the job and as a business you gotta do what ever it takes to make money, It shouldn't be a burden to do the work necessary to import stuff, it's business! This seems to be the attitude with some people.... I apologize if I came of sounding #####y or whiny or if I sounded like an ungrateful gunnut, this was not my intention, I was just making a simple point is all.... Like someone said earlier I think some times simple comments can easily get blown out of proportion, I think this is the case here... :)

Back on track: I thought my rifle was from the last batch, but it must of been from the second last, as mine doesn't have the match trigger. But I'll say it again: My rifle in aprox. 400 + rounds that it has fired has never once pierced or cratered ( I hate that term!) a primer. Can someone explain to me why it would? If it did, presumably because of the countersink around the firing hole, why not try adjusting the gas system & see if anything changes or try going to a lighter grain / pressure bullet? I'm not sure anything would change but it would be an interesting foot note.

See I know that John (the gentleman at Wolverine) is not out to gouge people.. so I didn't jump right onto this...

If you've never seen or done the paperwork it's not really fair to comment.. having done part of it myself... I can say I wouldn't want to be dealing with it everyday and it's compounded by the fact that the rules and fees keep changing...

Ok then... now back to the XCR... When will that 308 be here??

To clarify - I was NOT trying to make Wolverine look bad. I was trying to make a point that XCRs are a little cheaper down here, *starting* at $1500 (that's a basic model). Wolverine's have to have the 18.6" barrels, and they order them with sights and rail covers. So there does end up being a difference. I didn't mean it to come off that they were ripping people off, because they certainly aren't.

Dude; Pretty much everything is cheaper down there.... From sub sandwiches to cars..

It's all good... ;)

FYI its down here -- your up there :D

Kev... Don't get too comfortable "down there" as they are going to "wise up" soon enough and throw your ass back to Canada :)

Enjoy that ugly, hot, humid Florida summer :p

PS... our shipment of SR-15 E3 IWS showed up last week... very nice improvement over the early shipments... well done! Wish we could have got some of those "tan" units ;)
