XCR-l or XCR-L keymode?

I just recently got off the phone with Guy at wolverine, he said that the difference between the 2 models , the forend, buffer tube and the barrel retention is the same as the XCR-M . Any way because they'll do a stock exchange and give me a credit for the fast stock,I've decided to go that route. Thanks again for all the help.

Glad to see you come to the dark side.Got tired of the su16? If current deals fall thro i will have a fast stock for sale. And $100 less than new too!

I'm a little confused. you're getting a keymod or the old one with the old bolt and lower?

I can't complain about the su16, it served me well, about a 1000 rnds and not a single malfunction . Got say though, the XCR-L does feel good and I like the idea of the barrel conversions. Wolverine said they will sell me the stock adapter and CTR stock and give me a credit for the fast stock that comes off.

Keymode , because it has the new style buffer tube and bolt and the barrel retention is now the same as the XCR-m. Overall it will cost me about$350 more for the newer model, that's not to bad.are any of those conversions good for moose? I'm mainly a paper puncher/plinker . But would like to have the option of hunting also. I know any of these calibers , including 223 will take down a moose , but am wondering which ones are legal to do so? :) Clear as mud? :)

Now you will know what all my bragging was about ;)
don't get me wrong I do like my su 16 , I have the R l aluminum forend which feels great and it goes bang every single time. I really do like the look of the Robby though, and since I just sold my 7 mm and my 30 30 , the barrel swap feature pushed me over the top. Personly , when I by a gun, it's also based on looks, lol . And 1 gun 2 calibers= awesome. One more weekend with my su and then it's off to the EE

Good choice! Like I said I'm not a hunter, but I think a 6.8spc could take a moose? I could be completely wrong.

The caliber conversions are awesome. I just bought a tavor and I wish we could get the conversions up here.

Hope you enjoy it when you get it, And make sure to post some photos!

If you're getting an xcr-l. you won't be able to get a .308 conversion kit. You'd be able to get .223, 7.62x39, 6.8, and I've heard rumours of .300 blackout (don't know for sure about that). If you want .308 you'd need to get the xcr-m

I'm no hunter, but I've seen people here (I think it was "CampCook"?) take a deer with a 6.8 conversion. So that might be your best bet.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!
Guy , at Wolverine said that, the keymode model XCR-L now has the XCR-M barrel retention system. They changed it because it works better. So does this mean it would accept the 308 barrel, or is there even a 308 barrel?

You can not covert the Xcr L to 308win. If you want 308win, you must get Xcr M.
The upper receiver and lower receiver is physically bigger than the Xcr L

Xcr L can be converted to .223rem, 7.62x39 and 6.8

Also, keymod Xcr L is not the only choice.
You can still get The new bolt system with the traditional quad rails, you just need to special order it.

Gotcha, I'll have to look into 6.8

It may be the larger barrel retention system but you still need to check the lock screw often. I found mine loosened off after 300 rounds. I loctited that sum biatch.

Ya ,I see threads that say you don't need locktite ,and I see threads that say you do, maybe some clear nail polish will suffice. Do the job, but easy enough to undo.

I think there was a misunderstanding. When I was explaining the bolt being the same design in the 2014 L series as the M series I was referring to the firing pin, bolt carrier and bolt within the receiver. Not the barrel retaining bolt.
I hope this clarifies things for you.
Best regards
Guy

ok , thanks, I have it narrowed down to XCR-L heavy barrel - keymod. Now I need more info on twist, 1 in 9 , or 1in8 . Right now I'm using 55 g ammo cause that's all I have access to, but I do plan on reloading in the future. Also I was looking at your CTR stocks, and they say restricted ????? Anyway , I don't know if this is the right place to be talking about this so please let me know. I'll call on Tues and iron out the details. Sorry about the misunderstanding , you explained it right, I heard it wrong. ( wishful thinking on my part). :):) By the way this is all fairly new to me, so bare with me, hopefully I'll catch on . Thanks...... Brian

No problem Brian,
1 in 9 is the standard twist that we bring into Canada and it is well suited to 55gr ammo.
The CTR stocks fall into 2 categories, either "milspec" or "commercial" and this simply refers to the outside diameter of the buffer tube they are to be installed onto. milspec OD is slightly smaller than commercial.
Give me a call next week with a list of questions and I will do my best to answer them. I may not have all the answers all the time but I will make sure I get the answers for you.
Best regards
Guy
