XCR Photoshoot....post em up let your XCR Freak Flag Fly

I like how owning a $30 part is enough to justify a $2500 purchase :)

thats how I roll. all you need is an excuse!
its either an xcr or an acr in april, for my birthday, happy birthday to me.
Been saving money like crazy, my underwear has holes in it, i lost 5 pounds due to not enough food, i haven't cut my hair in 3 months and Im our of shower body wash for a month now. I am starting to smell...

you think that is bad, give me a shout when you stop paying for heat in your home and use the heat from spent casings to survive

I have been waiting for someone to post a review of the new keymod accuracy and reliability with the light barrel in x39 but even in the xcr sticky there is no reply. the 223 should be more commonly found but and un biased review may be difficult to find

Would love to do one (accuracy), but currently the only option with the weather for me is 50m indoor range that would not help very much and mine is 5.56.

yeah, I am specifically wanting info on the x39 keymod light barrel. I spent a lot of time with an older model and it was problematic. RA says all the past version issues are fixed but I would like to see some accuracy and reliability reports and even handle one before buying. If it isn't up to par I will just have a conversion built for the ACR

Military Arms Channel had a newer version on their Range Day videos but turns out it is also a heavy barrel version. His comments at around 15:17 may be interesting....or not. Will link it for you anyway. Its a gen 2 though looking at the bolt.

I have had decent accuracy to 250 meters using Hornady Vmax 55 gr, Black box AE, 69 SMK, Fed 50 gr JHP while breaking in.

The best @100 meters from a mat, prone, bipod, rear bag was Fed 50 gr JHP @1-1 1/4". I was semi setting the scope zero in order to do some plinking after about 100 rounds to loosen us up.

I shot a 8" group with AE black box fmj@ 250m, 4-4 1/2 with Hornady Vmax 55gr and 3-3 1/2" with the Fed JHP 50 gr, sitting, although bipod was attached.

There was some oddities(something was wrong or didn't make sense, like I was getting a lot of high groups relative to point of aim during some groups)
I did find the bipod loose afterwards(I had the Knights Arm. swivel mount too close up front and the Harris bipod plate was slightly inclined and touching the barrel band/gas block band and wouldn't stay tight apparently.

I will reshoot now that I relocated swivel/bipod mount, maybe tomorrow. Snow is so bad though, I'm losing brass.

thanks, but that is a non keymod M in 308. it really tells me nothing about the 7.62x39 keymod with light barrel.

not sure what accuracy you are expecting out of that round, it has a horrible ballistic coefficient.

Brian I have a light barrel keymod in x39. Accuracy for me has been good. I am gonna throw my razor on it here in the next week or 2 for some more official accuracy testing. What I have found so far is 1.5 moa with quality factory ammo. I may tighten those up with the better optics, stock and my bipod. I torqued my barrel retention nut to factory specs and will do so again before I test for consistency. I get 2-3 moa with surplus ammo, which great for just plinking and screwing around on my farm. Reliability has been great with all ammo I run in it, I did have a ftf, but it is a mag issue. I have 8 mags for it and it is the only one that does it. It always ejects and cycles even when I screwed around with the gas settings.
No locktite yet either. I have about 300 rounds through it, newer acquisition and with a new baby and winter I haven't run it fully through its paces.

BC is not really relevant to actual accuracy. It is relevant to accuracy only that a round that has less drop and bucks the wind better will be easier to put on target at further ranges. With a similar platform and quality of ammo it has the potential to be just as accurate as any other round. X39 gets a bad rap because it is generally used in platforms not designed for accuracy and match ammo is practically non existent. With proper projectile selection and hand loads the x39 will keep up with any other round until it is pushed beyond its intended effective range. A round with better BC and powder behind would then leave the x39 behind, but at say 100m, accuracy should not be much different if we compare apples to apples.
