If you want accuary, then get Ar15 or a bolt action.
 
I just recently acquired an OD XCR from Epps. Sold my T97 to get it. I love this rifle!

I read the posts about the weight prior to buying, but either I am stronger than most, or I am just to used to my full wood Milsurps, because I have no issue at all with its front end weight. Maybe all the AR owners need to hit the gym more!! :cool: :D

AR shooters for the most part will not even try to use a new platform enough so that it becomes second nature to them like the AR, they don't give it even a fair chance before they switch back to what they know, old habbits die hard.

I think he will if he expects it to be a coyote gun like his first post states, if you keep the shooting to within 200yds he would be fine, but beyond that is usual range for those little dogs, just trying to help out, sorry to have offended XCR owners.

Can you provide a link or something that shows the poor accuracy past 200 yards?
 
Thought of buying one myself but I would not be even thinking about it if AR weren't restricted... Hey, we're in Canada! For the same amount of $$$ I could build a AR with all the bells & whistles and it would shoot sub-moa. I often go a gun store in New Hampshire, you know the state that has "Live Free or Die'' motto on their license plate, and they have hundreds of AR variants and and all the black guns you can think of BUT no Robinson Arms... I wanted to see one but the guys there when asked didn't have good things to say about them...

The XCR is a 2 MOA rifle on average, there have been a few that post incredible groups but those are not the norm. 2MOA is 4 inches at 200yds and growing as the distance increases, on an animal as small as a coyote your not going to be making reliable humane kills much beyond 200yds. This accuracy is also a best case scenario, as in shooting off a bench and not the kind of accuracy you can expect to get in the field unless you are shooting prone from a bipod. Chances of getting any better accuracy than that means using handloads developed for your rifle or expensive factory loads that you have lucked out and found the ones that work with your barrel. Even this won't improve things enough to be shooting animals beyond 250ish yards.

This shouldn't be news to anyone that owns an XCR-L or anyone that has been reading the range reports that come up. Don't get upset when someone says it, you may have one of the exception rifles that will hold 1-1.5 MOA if you wait 3-5 min between shots to let everything cool again but real world results are that it is a 2 MOA and sometimes closer to 3 MOA which is fine considering it was designed as a battle rifle and not a DMR or sniper rifle.
I've shot quite a few XCR's since they came out and like the rifle but it isn't for me when there are options like the ACR and SL8-4 which will both shoot tighter groups for around the same price (I own both).

OP, if you don't mind the price tag the Swiss Arms is another non restricted option but they are under review right now and may end up going prohib (hopefully not). The good thing about them is that due to the uncertain future of it's status the price has come down. The one I had didn't like the ammo I usually use so I sold it but many have reported good accuracy from it.

personal experience with the rifle, It is a 2-3moa gun with the different types of ammo I used which included factory premium loads. 2-3 moa is a 4-6" group at 200yds in the best conditions and a coyote is a small target. No room for error if you want a humane kill on such a small animal at anything further away.
 
Mine had somewhere around 5k rounds through it when I unfortunately had to sell it. It was flawless. The accuracy was 1.5moa or better all day
 
I got an XCR -M in early december and after getting a round stuck in it after 20 rounds and having to pull it apart it has functioned flawlessly through the remainder of the break in. Like many I wanted an AR but after waffling back and forth I eventually decided against restricted for a few reasons, the most significant being the hassle of all the extras that go with restricted rifles.

Did lots of research and was going to do an sl-8 conversion but eventually decided on .308 as I have a .223 bolt. RAs customer service was a consideration but I eventually came to the conclusion wolverine would be able to supply most of what I needed if necessary and that the NR status was enough to give it a go.

Glad I did... was out this morning shooting and it has been running great. No hiccups with Norinco surplus and the stock mag seems to be breaking in. Accuracy is pretty darn good for me. I don't claim to be anything but a civilian hobby target shooter and can rattler but I was pleasantly surprised today shooting standing with the .308.

As a disclaimer, my eyes are getting bad at 100 and the trijicon rx34 reflex I was using has no magnification at all and the orange tritium dot was waving all over the place. lol. But i was able to hit a deer target in the neck standing at 100yds (I was aiming at a larger spot, damn eyes) ... likely 6moa lol but Im not the biggest guy and it is a heavy rifle and the tritium dot was hard to focus with my bad eyes at 100. When I took a shot of a blocked sandbag at 50 I was able to get 3 shots on a cup sized target with the reflex sight that has no mag... (note, i do not say this as something impressive)

Eventually I would like to get a bipod and 3-9x to get a better gauge of the accuracy but all in all considering it was 3 degrees, my third time out with it, standing, and being an inexperienced AR shooter I was pleased to know it was all my fault lol.
 
With handloads I've had my XCR shoot a hair over MOA. It's not a tack driver for sure but as a calling gun it would work fine. When I was done with all the Hera on my SL8 it was a $3k gun and would easily shoot sub MOA with my handloads. I hated the shifting POA though and it didn't do me much good to be able to shoot a tiny group if it was three inches away from where my previous day zero was. Oh and the nose was heavier than my chubby barrelled XCR. My AR out shoots them both but I won't be taking it out calling in the foreseeable future. I'd like to try a Swiss but I'm mot sure its going to shoot a bunch better than the XCR and with the reclassification pending I'm not willing to stick my neck out that far. The N/R ACR would be fun to play with, haven't seen any tiny groups posted with one of them either though, need to get one in Carmel's hands I guess:). With the unbelievable support that Wolverine offers for the XCR I think every household should have one or two. Their support alone adds a pile of value to the platform and as long as they keep standing behind the XCR I won't be parting with mine.

Personally I am staying away from the Swiss Arms, I dont trust my country and its poor decisions , if our community would stand together and say "F U , they are our guns, and you cant have them" I would get it , and any other gun under review, but when you read peoples post who have them, they seem very proud to state "They dun know I have it, I sold it, its gone" Yeah, pulling a real fast one on them, now you have a forced safe queen for life worth thousands of dollars lol.

I changed my original post, mentioning the AR seemed to confuse some people on what I was looking for (Not precision) Just was really wondering if that juicy price tag is worth what you are getting... God our laws are lame. I think the norinco and keltec are the only two stanag mag guns that are NR and under the $2000 dollar mark.

I already have my pistols, and getting DDM4, I am going to be good on range toys for now :D

I will go with the XCR , maybe an ACR in the future if life permits it. And I dont take shots on animals that are beyond the guns range, but I have heard 2 MOA and read that a lot of places, (Or better) And correct, coyotes are small) But 4 inches at 200 yards is plenty to drop one. I do not take shots much further away then that. And the front heavy weight is not an issue for me at all.
