XCR , to buy or not to buy?

Fired both the 5.56 and the 7.62 version and liked both, liked the 7.62 version better but only because of personal biased to the 5.56 being a small round. That asside I like the piston action similar to the FN C9 or M249 and how easily it comes apart a great rifle but like said previously a longer rifle so unless your used to carrying a LMG or using it as a range rifle it will be unwieldy the first few times in the bush.

Just buy a used one, if you find a good deal you can run a couple hundred rounds through it to see if you like it. If not just sell it for what you paid for it and try something else.

Just comment on length, it's not actually that long of a rifle, I'll admit it "feels" much longer. It's 2 inches longer than my non-restricted cz858 and about 5 inches shorter than my Remington 700 with a standard 24" barrel.

So of you've ever been in the bush with an "average" hunting rifle I'm sure you'll handle an xcr in the thick stuff just fine.

Edit - this is with the fast stock fully extended

They already do the 6.8 SPC I can't see them doing something so similar and proprietary like the Grendel. They do however say on their website that they have working prototypes in .300 Whisper and are looking into production of the Micro in that chambering.

they are not the same 6.5 is way cooler

Got a bigger Xmas bonus than I thought - just ordered a black XCR-L in .223 with a Redfield Battlezone 3-9x42 scope. Can't wait! :)
