XCR vs MR1 build quality comparison ...

One thing that I really don't get is the price of these rifles ...

The MR1 new is 1700$, a good AR is 1500$, the ACR is 3000$, the XCR is 2500$, the Swiss Arms is 3400$. Looking at the actual engineering of the rifles I would argue that the MR1, XCR and ACR should be pretty cheap, it doesn't cost much to pour plastic into a mold and the actions don't look like they're required much tooling. The AR action looks like it would take quite a lot of work. I've never looked over a Swiss Arms. I'm not a gun expert but usually when a company is boasting simplicity they are probably also looking at lower manufacturing costs.

I'm no expert either, but I guess ARs are cheap because the patents are expired and anyone can make them. The SIG SG 550 is made in Switzerland and it's a "proven" battle rifle actually used by the Swiss military and other countries. The XCR is overpriced in Canada, probably because it's the only non-restricted AR look-alike. The MR1 seems fairly priced for a Benelli product.

Simple economics really, Beretta has lot more resources behind them, which means their get better pricing when it comes to buying raw materials, they have hundreds of employees, dedicated tooling and stations that is long paid for to make just one component at a time.

Compare to Robinson Arms who I guess has may be 10 employees, whatever tooling or machine they are still making monthly payments on have to perform multiple functions. what Beretta can produce in one day probably equals to what Robinson Arms produces in a month.

As to AR's you have the US Military to thank for that, take Beretta's scenario and scale it up for ten if not hundred times, the material cost is way cheaper, instead dedicated station we are now talking about dedicated factories. most manufacturers attach there civilian production right to the end of the a government contract I am not saying Uncle Sam is subsidizing them, but the companies do enjoy benefit from discount you get when you lump your purchases together.

No need to fight what is more beautiful. Red Head, or Blonde. Let's fight about that and see everyone who doesn't win the argument.

Using a m2 or m4 benelli shotgun stock adapter opens up alot of possibiltys dunno if its legal but if it doesn't change overall length it makes it alot more beautiful.

I read on some blog post some time ago back when I had my eye on a mr1 form a local gun store. I liked the gun but hated the stock. Started reaserching for replacement and it was said that a benelli M2 shotgun stock adapter from mesa tactical fitted the Mr1 but its nothing very well know or documented.

I believe some dremel work is required.

MR1 = fail

I had a chance to finally handle an MR1 today, and my overall impression is... *meh*. The controls are not intuitive in the least. In particular I hate the location of both magazine releases as well as the bolt release. While the collapsible stock is better than the fixed one, you can't get a decent cheek weld when it's collapsed. While the weight and balance is ok, I can't stand the polymer-metal transition; looks bizarre. Can't see how it's as accurate as claimed with that pencil thin barrel, either.

I'm not a huge fan of the XCR for various reasons, but having now handled both I'm switching my vote to the XCR. And yes, h**l is probably freezing over about now...

I am about to drop 4K on a Swiss Arms Special Black target, after reading on it, they guaranted one inch with 62 gr @100 metres and 4 inchs @ 300 metres, hopefully i will be able to have i shoot a lot better, this kind of accuracy is obtainable very easy with the Mr-1 @ more than half the price, i am expecting the Swiss to blow away the MR-1, if not it will be deceptive... JP.

I know you like your MR1... accuracy isn't everything. I'd rather have a reasonably accurate and functional firearm instead of the MR1.

I have to admit that I am surprised by the number of Nutz who consider appearance of a firearm an important factor in their decision to buy process. I'm more of a function over form guy.

Opinions Like'''''''''' everyone has one. The Swiss is a very attractive firearm and shoots well. I have shot several MR1s that would group under an inch at 100 yards using Federal Premium 55gr Sierra bthp factory load. I haven't tried handloads through either one. I like the Benelli becauce it attracts less attention when you are in the field using it. The Swiss rifle is legal but you are more apt to get called into the authorities for walking around with an "assault" rifle.

1st off, if is non restricted, then it's not an AR!
