Xcr war

Op here,

I'm finally heading toward a Swiss Arms... but is it worth it a 3400-3500$??

Let's imagine, for a second, that I found some place that would sell them for 2995$ new, would it be worth it then?

Well one thing - it will probable maintain its value so its a better investment than an XCR or RFB etc. But if I was to buy a firearm as an investment I'd be looking at Lugers.

Whatever your reason, enjoy your Swiss Arms.

I understand the Swiss Arms rifles are excellent quality but I have never like the look or feel of them = huge rifle for the tiny 223 round...

I am heading out blacktail deer hunting in appr 1 1/2 hours takes me 20 minutes to get too were I start my walk I'm taking my RA XCR-L with only two mags one loaded with 11 95gr TTSX @ 2825fps for out to 350 yard deer hunting the other will be loaded with 11 Sierra 110gr Prohunters @ 2650fps for a bit of plinking or for grouse/rabbits...

110gr Prohunters do not expand in soft tissue under 2300fps so as a hunting bullet I will only shoot them out to 125 yards but they are the cheapest bullets available for the 6.8spc and give me 1" 100 yard groups I shoot grouse in the neck at 50 - 75 yards with these bullets.

If you change your mind and get the XCR-L instead for the same price as the base Swiss Arms rifle you could have a -L in 223 and you could still get a 6.8SPC or a 7.62X39 conversion kit...

Just saying... :D

Did you get one? Any pics? Muzzleloader begins tomorrow here in Manitoba but I can't go till next weekend.

Only saw two does and they were very skittish looking over their shoulders (not at me) appr 200 yards away when I spotted them 300 when they disappeared into the trees about 7 minutes later...

I hiked around for 4 hours mostly thru steep logging cuts or on steep narrow game trails it was fun packing the XCR-L around with 1 in the chamber and 10 in the mag and I came home without shooting any babies... :p

Yes you read that right I packed this 10lbs rifle around all over a steep mountain and I am no worse for wear but then again I am not a wimp I maybe getting old but far from being a wimp...

For you haters that spew against the weight of an XCR-L I have a suggestion do some curls...

:D

Another day out with my 7.62X39 rifle making toothpicks out of the wood crate the surplus ammo came in at 70 m, shooting from a standing position with just the folding iron sights. When there wasn't anything left of the wooden crate I switched over to shooting dead leaves sitting on the backdrop. Not bad for 3 hours of fun with 140 rounds or $23 worth of ammo :D

by the way mine XCR is one of the older model, with the manly trigger, to this day it is still Loctite free :p
