XDm vs. Glock?

So you are saying get the Glock, then?

Look at some of the guns the NRA names "gun of the year"...

Getting named gun of the year by the NRA is the only award more meaningless than...well, actually, there is nothing more meaningless.
OMG you are so right misanthropist. What was I thinking?
:slap:
I am so sorry. I know the glock comes with a factory 4lbs trigger job, a match grade barrel and oh ya 2 mag's, holster, mag holster, lock, chamber indicator, second beaver safety and a whole bunch of other do dad's.
:onCrack:
Sorry about that my crack pipe is to hot to touch again. I miss took all though's things for a XDM.

Once this my stuff is better than your stuff simmer's down. I will all end up what you like & need out of your firearm. And don't let anyone tell you because some guy named "Dave Sevigny" or "Rob Leatham" keep's on winning tournament's you have to buy one. Find something that you will personaly enjoy and have fun with.

Satain, if you think it's a good gun for technical reasons, fine.

But if you recommend guns based on whether something makes the NRA "gun of the year" table...you are choosing for poor reasons.

I don't have a particular hate on for the XD series...they had a bunch of issues with QC, and you can't get parts for them, and the bore axis is too high, and their grip safety had problems, but they aren't a particularly terrible gun, compared to lots of other stuff, I guess.

My point is that you should NEVER take the the NRA "gun of the year" award to mean ANYTHING. The Taurus Judge won it recently...that is how much of a joke that award is.

I just love the closed mindedness of some Glock lovers, and am proud to say that I personally prefer the XDm. I didn't think there would be so many hurt feelings. Im not against Glocks i just think the XDm has alot more going for it than mere reliability and simplicity.

To allanbramoff and bollox

As gun enthusiasts there are currently more important issues to worry about than which gun is better than the other. If either of you have been paying attention there is this little thing called Bill C391 that deserves your attention more than this current spat.

This applies especially to you allanbramoff. You started this thread asking opinions. As the OP if your question is legit. then you should be taking in advice.

Now lets focus our debating skills on the real enemy shall we...the antis. Now kiss and make up and both of you send your MPs a letter today.

Exactly. I am not debating. I only gave my opinion and someone took offense. I have sent letters to MP's and party leader's already.

Do tell, what more is there and what is more important than reliability and simplicity?

You are right, in the end it comes down to personal preference. I'd love to write a letter or two. Who would write one to and could you give me some pointers on what should be addressed in my letters? Thanks

Hé Gang wher to buy the XDM in Canada

:confused:Hé Gang wher to buy the XDM in Canada
There are any dealers have theme in stock XDM tow tone?????
i am very interest by this gun but is seem have no one i have theme in Canada.

Vinnce.

Saskatoon Gunworks imported a block of them a few months back...last I heard he had a 9mm left. He is a site sponsor, check out the dealer forum. Great guy to deal with.

I shot a few Glocks - they were OK but didn't fit my hand too well.

I shot the XDM9 while visiting my buddy in Detroit and got hooked. It was accurate and also fit my smallish hand well. So when XDM deal became available I jumped and got it in .40S&W.

When I shot my XDM for the first time I couldn't believe how accurate it was. It felt like it had SRT or something, and all I had to do was aim and squeeze.

When the next batch becomes available I'm getting a stainless in .40 - and a .45 when those come around.

Its not the gun, its the shooter. A more "natural feeling/fitting" handgun will allow the shooter to maximize their inherent ability. A shooter who is capable of applying the fundamentals of handgun marksmanship has no issue shooting any pistol with precision as its the shooter that makes the shot, not the gun.

a very good explanation of why i myself am OK to have a variety of different guns to practice and learn on, as opposed to tweaking the bejesus out of one very particular gun - and having it in 7 different finishes. :p

Glock, reliable, durable, lower bore axis, Glock grip angle works for me, fantastic parts supply. Your choice.
