The center grip single shot XP-100's have a torque/twisting action upon firing noticeable even in the .221 Fireball chambering.

The Custom Shop variances w/ their composite stocks mitigated the torque...somewhat.

The XP-100 R-Repeaters of Custom Shop or Production are my packing/Sheep hunting preference.

The Custom Shop XP-100 R's have a sling swivel stud installed above the web of your hand & in the fore-end.

The production XP-100 R's do NOT have the installed sling swivel stud above the web of your hand, only in the fore-end.

Repeater stocks made by McMillan were available in two configurations, ambidextrous or RH finger groove.

XP-100 single shot & XP-100 R's are Model Seven length actions/bolts.

How did that work for classification? Does the rifle stay restricted where it originated as a handgun?
The XP100 was classified as a pistol and the CFC position is and always has been, once a pistol always a pistol. No possible way to have the action reclassified. It ducks because I’ve converted mine to 22 pound single shot F-class rifles, and they cannot ever be reclassified or sold.

When I was at Barotto Sports in Calgary in the early 70's we sold several XP actions as rifle actions. We stripped new guns down. Then came the day when the RCMP said no... once registered as a restricted firearm, they could no longer de register them.

Not always. But eventually, yes, that became their position. - dan

If an XP100 was imported in rifle configuration, it was never registered as a handgun. Never a handgun in Canada. Would one of these still be non-restricted or would it be an unregistered restricted firearm?
