Ordered a Savage 12BVSS in .223 yesterday on my lunch break
I had planned on waiting a bit longer to make my decision between that, a Rem XR-100, and maybe the savage low profile varmint gun. But, the salesman (and owner of the store, and a major organizer in the local gun club, and an excellent long range shooter...) used reason and logic to sway me away from the XR-100 for my first long range gun (not because he doesn't like the XR-100, he does). His points were that .223 is easier for a bigger to reload because there is alot more info out there on it, and since I would be using that caliber then the savage 1:9 barrel beats out the 1:12 on the Rem for heavier bullets. Then it was just a coin toss between the 2 savage's, so I went with the 12BVSS cause I think it will be more comfortable shooting prone from a bipod.
Probably top it with a 3200 10X.....after I wait another 2 weeks for a paycheck
Guess impluse buying isn't wallet friendly!
