Yellow Tail Wine Donates To Anti-Hunting

I guess I have another reason not to drink Yellow Tail besides the fact that it tastes terrible. Australia is so odd about gun ownership and hunting, it boggles the mind..

got a responce

Thank you very much for your email. We recognize that many consumers have commented on our donation to the Humane Society.

We’ve listened to your recent feedback and it was very helpful to us – in fact it prompted us to specifically choose the areas where we’d most like to celebrate animals. Here’s what we’ve decided: We’ll still honor our monetary commitment to the HSUS, but now we are specifically directing our $100,000 donation to HSUS’ Animal Rescue Team, which launch on-the-ground missions to rescue animals in peril. The HSUS Animal Rescue Team is a leading disaster response agency for animals, contributing millions of dollars to rebuild animal shelters destroyed in natural disasters, responding to floods, fires, and other disasters.

We may not always agree with 100 percent of what an organization represents, but rescuing animals displaced from natural disasters is a cause we support.

It is our policy to continually assess the impact of all of our charitable gifts and consumer feedback is extremely important to us. We hope that you will understand that this allocation of money is a direct result of hearing your concerns. We are listening, and we thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.

Sincerely,

[yellow tail] wines

non the less, I think next time Ill go with Wolf Blass or Rosschild

Most wine makers have a label on the back of the bottle saying "goes well with cheese, game or fish.
They'll have to re label saying it goes horrible with fish and game, but wonderful with rescued dog... No thanks.:D Their PR people suck a cork at back paddling..

The fact that they have taken action (any action) shows that we had an effect. It shows that with action we can change direction and every little bit helps. Small steps.

My letter to Yellow Tail:

It was with dismay that I learned this evening of your large donation to the HSUS. As a hunter, fisherman and responsible firearms owner I cannot further support your company by purchasing your products. This is unfortuate as both my wife and I enjoy your wines however you have taken a political stance that runs contrary to our beliefs and values. We are sorry that you can no longer provide a service to us and we will encourage our like-minded friends and family to similarly boycott your products.

I would NOT want to be in their marketing / promotions / PR department right now. :D

They are receiving significant lashback on Facebook, Twitter, blogs, and starting to come in on You Tube as well.

This decision is going to cost them quite a bit more than $100,000.

Hello there

Being somewhat of an amateur wine taster who certainly enjoys a glass of Yellow Tail Shiraz, I was saddened to hear of your endorsement and support of a very vocal anti hunting organization, The Humane Society.

I am an avid hunter and fisherman. My actions as both are that of conservation, protection and management.

I will not purchase a single case of your wine as long as you are a supporter of an oranization such as this, which skews information and fact simply to promote it's own agenda and get funding from companies such as Yellowtail.

Furthermore, I will be asking that we no longer include Yellow Tail at our tastings.

I will also be taking this information to every restaurant I frequent that has game ( wild or domestic) on it's menu, with the request that they support wineries that support sustainable game management which includes harvesting and hunting.

I think there has been a great oversight on just who the drinkers of Yellow Tail are.

I assure you that the majority of your consumer base is not made of vegetarian anti hunting, anti meat eating socialites.

It is made of people who enjoy a glass of wine with prime rib, venison, duck, salmon... and yes, all those other things that go along with it such as asparagus and avocado.

You really have missed the mark with this...

Sincerely

Michael Wheadon
