Yellow Tail Wine Donates To Anti-Hunting

My email was short, but they should get the message.

I have enjoyed your wines alongside my meals of wild game for some time. Succulent meals of venison, bear, moose, geese, duck, pheasant, quail, rabbit, and fish. It has now come to my knowledge that you have donated money to a charity, which hopes to take away my rights to hunt and cook such meals. Since you wish to take away my meal, I have no reason to drink your wine.
Sincerely,
Craig

My letter to Yellow Tail:

Hello,

I've recently learned that you've lent support to the Humane Society, a vocal anti-hunting group. As a responsible hunter, conservationist and outdoorsman I must tell you that I take great offense to the Humane Society and their policies.

I've enjoyed several of your products many times but I can no longer support a company with ties to the Humane Society. Many of my friends feel the same way.

The Shiraz went so well with venison too....pity.

Humans became dominant on earth because we're the most successful predators. Hunting is natural and in our genes.

Very dissapointing. As a business man I find it amazing that you would risk your business by becoming involved in polarizing politics such as animal rights.

Good luck.

Regretfully,

###xx

Yellow Tail Wine Donates $100,000.00 to Anti-Hunting

The Australian maker of Yellow Tail Wine has pledged $100,000 to the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s largest anti-hunting organization. This partnership offers further proof of HSUS’ work to spin its animal rights message in a way as to seem mainstream.

We may want to think about this the next time we're shopping for wine.

Ron

That is too bad, I used to enjoy Yellow Tail wines. I emailed them as well.

I am encouraged that they did respond, however, even specifying where their donation goes "animal rescue" still helps feed that special interest organization as I am certain that a portion of every donation goes to administration.

Glad to see the backlash and focussed response ...

On the flip-side of the coin, Anheuser-Busch, Coors, Big Rock Brewery, Jim Beam, Seagram's, Captain Morgan, Pelee Island Winery & Magnotta Wineries (amongst others) have all made significant contributions to wildlife habitat conservation here in North America. I'm pleased to say I support all of them !

One political donation (and threat of support being withdrawn) by a plastics manufacturer here in this Province was all that was necessary to eliminatre the spring bear hunt here.

Heartening to see the average guy take on corporate a$$ hat$ that make fundamentally wrong decisions .... stay vigilant !

If a company makes a product you Like (or even don't like) and gives money to the anti gun and anti hunter movement send them a letter telling them why you and your friends will no longer purchase their product.
The letter should be addressed to the president or chairman in charge of marketing of the company and sent by mail.

Mention as well that you are going INTERNET on the issue and telling all of your friends.

And they have a blog site as well.
Make them happy, be polite, no name calling, no bitter invective.
Just tell them that you will no longer be buying or drinking their wines because of their anti hunter stand.

My last bottle of Yellowtail '05 Merlot has just been removed from the wine rack and placed in the kitchen, where it will be used as a contributing marinade for my next wild game roast....a fitting end. Back to Wolf Blass....

Would it not make sense to also write the humane society, which I would imagine has many goals and directives, some of them worthy, and tell them you do not support their anti-hunting stance?

HSUS is not your local humane society. There primary focus is activism. They are in no way affiiliated with local humane societies. They have simply co-opted the name in order to get donations from people who think their money will be used to rescue strays and abandoned pets.

So no.

BTW. Yellowtail is making great hay out of being selected as the best Vegan wine.

Screw them, they are anti. This will hopefully cost them millions.

Here's a self description from their website:

About Us: Overview

The Humane Society of the United States is the nation's largest and most effective animal protection organization—backed by 11 million Americans, or one in every 28. Established in 1954, The HSUS seeks a humane and sustainable world for all animals—a world that will also benefit people. We are America's mainstream force against cruelty, exploitation and neglect, as well as the most trusted voice extolling the human-animal bond. ..

Our mission statement: Celebrating Animals, Confronting Cruelty.

We work to reduce suffering and to create meaningful social change for animals by advocating for sensible public policies, investigating cruelty and working to enforce existing laws, educating the public about animal issues, joining with corporations on behalf of animal-friendly policies, and conducting hands-on programs that make ours a more humane world. We are the lead disaster relief agency for animals, and we provide direct care for thousands of animals at our sanctuaries and rescue facilities, wildlife rehabilitation centers, and mobile veterinary clinics.

We celebrate pets, as well as wildlife and habitat protection. We are the nation's most important advocate for local humane societies, providing shelter standards and evaluations, training programs, a national advertising campaign to promote pet adoption, direct support, and national conferences. We are building a Humane Wildlife Services program to provide homeowners and businesses with humane and effective solutions to conflicts with our wild neighbors. The HSUS publishes All Animals, a membership magazine, and Animal Sheltering, a bi-monthly magazine for animal sheltering professionals.

We confront national and global cruelties through major campaigns targeting the barbaric practices of dogfighting and cockfighting; abusive puppy mills where dogs are treated not like family but like production machines; the worst cruelties of factory farming in modern agribusiness such as confinement of animals in crates and cages; inhumane and unsporting hunting practices such as "canned hunts" of captive exotic animals; the slaughter of American horses for export to foreign countries where horsemeat is considered a delicacy; and the clubbing of baby seals and other animals for the commercial fur trade. Our track record of effectiveness has led to meaningful victories for animals in Congress, state legislatures, courtrooms and corporate boardrooms.
