I was thinking I might buy a carbine-length VZ, wait for the NEA folder, and throw my vltor tube and CTR on that. That means taking them off my non-restricted model, leaving it stockless. But obviously I can't bolt that damn canoe paddle back on...for one it's too low, and for another it looks ###.
What to do...why not smack an AK-type stock together?
I took some scrap plywood and laminated it together to get the thickness I wanted, then cut it to shape with a hand saw. Then I took it for a quick spin on the belt sander for a bit of shaping.
I took a long 1/2" bit and drilled the hole for the factory screw with a cordless. Then I enlarged the hole from the back end with a 3/4" spade bit to fit the head and washers.
here is is mocked up next to the gun:
Then I cleaned the whole thing up a bit, and filled voids with a mix of epoxy and sawdust, of which there was lots. I then coated the whole thing in epoxy and heated it for a bit to help the epoxy soak in to the wood.
Finally a quick sand and a spray with truck bed liner...total cost...maybe $5?
I don't go for pretty guns...or maybe I just find "effective" pretty.
