Weatherby vanguard, .22-250, synthetic, with a Swarovski 3x10. Never weighed it, but I can pack it around all day through the snow. And I'm a little over 50.
You said that right!
I was fed up with heavy coyote rigs and went with a Kimber Montana in 257 Bob. Even with a Leupold 4.5-14x40 it still comes in at under 6.5 pounds. What a nice change for walking the big hills chasing dogs.
I have a faux TI in the works here in 22/250. TI bdl style stock with a 22" Shilen stainless mountain rifle countour bbl. 1:9" twist. Will finist with a set of Talleys and a VXII 2x7.I would never carry around a heavy barreled rifle when I have to walk threw deep snow coyote hunting. The lighter the better.
What's a yote?
.
In much of the west coyote is a two syllable word, pronounced Ki ute or Ki yote or Ki yute. Yote is an abreviation of the second.
Ki yot ee is a mexican word meaning "gets ass kicked by a funny looking bird". Nobody except the hopelessly ghey ever calls 'em that.
guys I need a rifle that is under 6.5lbs before scope, my HB rifle with scope is about 11lbs. I have a problems picking up a 4 litre jug of milk with my right arm, again might have nerve damage. So I'm planning ahead and looking to unload the HB for a very light rifle & need ideas.
Kimber is the lightest, Savage new lite weight hunter is the second lightest I've seem but I don't like the action of these rifles. I love the Tikka action but the weight of the rifle isn't light enough. I could do a custom build on a tikka action, but I don't want to spend the money on that project.
H&R Handi-Rifle, Superlight Compact is <5.5 lbs. in .223Remington or .243Winchester. Overall length of 33" also helps as the weight has less leverage at the end of your arm.
i instantly thought the same thing.Kimber Montana .223. Nothing else will do if you want lite done right.
