You can keep only one

My 1911A1 Norinco clone.

I have had zip, zero, nada, problems with it in the 2 years and 1000+ rounds of 45 ACP I've put through it.

Its reliability and the stopping power of that .45ACP round make it MY choice for the one-and-only centerfire handgun I can have.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my OD Ruger SR9, but if I can have only one, my choice will be my Norkie 1911A1. YMMV.

Like I said previously, my S&W 686p, technicaly with a revolver your shots are guaranted compare to a pistol....

Good point, but going back to the initial post, the primary focus or question of this thread was "If you could only keep one center fire handgun, what would it be and why"?

That was exactly my point... some clarity on what the OP may have meant by "Keep" one gun. Many were listing their SHTF choices. But Im not sure thats what the OP was suggesting.

In my initial post, #13, I went with a response to the question posed by the thread starter, "what one centerfire handgun and why". My other posts were in response to additional handgun interests that surfaced thereafter.

Ruger SRH in 454. Great spread in ammunition, especially handloaded, and acceptable for getting an ATC which I bought it for in the first place. Plus I love hand cannons. Screw those dinky little auto pistols. :D

wheel guns, wheel guns, everyone loves their wheel guns eh!? If I hadn't sworn to never buy a used wheel gun I might have one by now, but I don't. Another thing that is holding me back is caliber. If I could find a wheel gun in 9mm or .45ACP I might get there sooner, the thought of another caliber to stock is a bit of a pain right now.

.44 mag or .38/357mag (or both) is in my eventual future, no doubt. Why is 9mm not generally offered in a revolver anyhow? Seems just about every other caliber can be had with relative ease in a revolver.
Ruger Blackhawk convertable...?

My choice would be a .45 acp, just love the calibre. If I were to choose one that I currently own, it would either be one of my Springfield Mil Specs, or my Brazilian contract S&W. Both are accurate and dead reliable.

Very, very hard to chose just one!

The original revolver guy in me says the 4" S&W Model 19 .357 Mag....

But I've always said my "go to" for a handgun in a nasty situation would be a well used, but 100% reliable, 2nd gen Glock 22 .40 S&W.

NAA.

After reading through all the posts i only found another fellow with the same revolver. I would also go with with 4.2" Ruger GP100.
A few months ago it would have been a 6" blued GP but i made a swap for a short stainless one which i was surprised to find i like shooting better.

Reason for keeping, i like the accuracy, no need to chase my brass, Its the first centerfire ive owned so im used to it, Good for both PPC and IDPA, speed loaders are more fun.
I could probably go on for a while why i like the GP100 but i wont.
