You get three guns...

Unspeakably cruel...

CZ 452 Varmint .22 rimfire
CZ 550 375 H&H
Tikka T3 Varmint 308

I'm not much of a shotgun man.

Snapshot

Hmmm, tricky

First would be my "Old Mans" Tikka M65 Battue 30-06, just because its Dads and fits me like a glove.
Second I dont have but would be a Model 70 375 with purddy lumber on it.
Third pick is hard, I'de like to find a 12g I could learn to love but its seams easyer said then done.

If not for my old mans ought six it would be,

Husky 9.3x62 leupy 1.5x5 on top
Remmy BDL 25-06 zeiss 3x9
And that 12g thats out there some where that fits "like eh glove"

I wanna change my picks... I don't think that I can live without a rimfire after all...

My International three (not interested in dangerous game);

Ruger #1 RSI in 7X57
CZ 453 Varmint in .22 LR
Browning Silver Lightning in 12 gauge

Final answer...

Cooey model 75 .22
Weatherby vanguard .270win
Husqvarna 46a 9.3x57

Can't believe I left my Sako Deluxe off the list but it's just too pretty to use daily.

It's a good (or bad) thing I only have 3 to choose from .... for now:

Rem 700 .308 - this one will be around for a while
Rem 700 .222
870 wingmaster 12g

Not a bad thing at all, just means you likely use them a lot. Many of us are guilty of having a dozen safe queens we don't know too well. I have only three I hunt regularly, one's a shotgun, and a pile more I range trip once a season.

I find it quite surprising that a fair number of respondents don't include a .22 rimfire in their 3-gun battery. For real-world hunting and shooting, I automatically assumed that two of the spots would be taken up by a 12-gauge shotgun and a .22 rimfire for just about everyone.

I agree a bit, but in my case, I haven't hunted with a .22 in years. Most game small enough for a .22, I would shoot with a 12ga. I just don't find .22LR that useful for hunting, but that's likely just the type of hunting I like to do.

It is fun to put out a bunch of targets at varying ranges - up to 200 yards - and blast away with a .22 LR. You can go through a couple of hundred rounds in no time flat. You won't get a flinch and it will only cost a few dollars. More trigger time = better performance when it really counts.

Sounds like good practice for Alberta Gopher fields.

I don't hunt anything with a shotgun, and any shooting done by a 22LR can be done with a 223 plus more.imo

Best "what if thread" to date.
