Your 3-Gun Rifle Setup?

Woah there. Lets all be happy for Cbabes great 3gun rifle.

Prove to me the ambi is better.

I am happy for Cbabes, and he knows that.
Its a nice looking rifle and I hope it serves him well.

I was just replying to the "no other options/improvement...NONE" statements
I replied by saying this:
I'd put an ambi safety on it as I like to put it on safe with my trigger finger, but that's just my personal preference.

The last part of my statement says...just my personal preference.

But you corrected me so we'll leave it at that.

I was just razzing him because he got DQd for going for the mag release and hitting his trigger. I figured the same can happen if quickly dumping the AR for a transition while going for the safety with the right index finger. Anyway I don't want the ambi! :D

That was due to coupled mags where the mag was on the wrong side of the gun, and I jammed my finger into the side of it vs getting the mag release, while on a full run.
Learned from it and I have eliminated that problem from happening again.

OK...question for you 3gun guys....
Can i use my Beretta CX4 9mm in a match ? or do i need rifle caliber ammo AR ?

Best bet is to check with whomever is hosting the match...
We've had people use PPC's at Team Hoser matches, but...
I'm not gonna change the flavour of the stages to suit them.
If you can't hit a 4" plate at 100yrds with your PPC don't come crying saying "no fair!"

My position is that "3-gun" means RIFLE, SHOTGUN and PISTOL.
A pistol cal. carbine is not a rifle. It's just a really big pistol.

I would run it and see first. You bought it for a reason. Give it a shot and have fun. If you feel you are missing out then yeah an AR15 with 18" barrel and lightened internals like Cbabes rifle will be fun to run and gun with.

THanks for the input
Just got my CX4.... so not sure what it can do...or more likely what i can do wit it
But since i'm running a PX4 in IPSC, i hope to utilize my mags in 3 gun and save some $$$
W'ill see
Tanks again

I have used pistol caliber carbines at some of the "outlaw" matches such as the one's FRPC has held. Only issue that does arise is when the pistol and carbine make the same hole it does allow for some "gaming" or problems scoring for certain types of matches in which you are to engage different targets with the pistol and carbine. That's not common though.

So. With the 3 Gun matches we have in Ontario.

Are there long rifle shots like in the USA out to say 400 m or more?

I ask because I have a build and im deciding on a stainless 14.5" barrel but also looking at a stainless 16.5" fluted barrel.

Obviously the 16.5" is better for velocity and a bit better for distance. But would I be hindered with the shorter barrel?

This will be a scoped AR regardless.

Longest for me has been 300m in Canada but usually 100-150.

If you think shooting in the us is a possibility .....go for the 16.5"
