Your Favourite Ruger No1 Cal?

Not a bad price for that 9.3x74R listed in the EE because new these are closer to 2 grand. A very cool and unique round. The No.1 extractor works well with flanged cases for positive extraction. Might just be possible to safely obtain enhanced performance from this round over standard ballistics because of the robust No.1 action. Plus it's controlled round feed. ;)

For the 9.3x74R, ANSI Z299.4 doesn't list an ammo pressure limit standard. However, CIP does -

Not a recommendation but if the 9.3x74R No.1 rifle is similar to the 9.3x62 No.1 rifle, for which ammo has an ANSI-specified maximum pressure limit of 57,500 psi, then there might be some increased pressure margin for safe enhanced performance.

^ Definitely.

You don't hunt with a #1 because it's somehow a better rifle; you hunt with one because it's a beautiful, classy, elegant rifle that does the job every bit as well as a lesser gun. :)

I have only ever shot two and they were both in 303 British, and I'd accept one as a gift any day.

Agree... walnut/blued for me in No.1's...

Had to laugh tonight. I've got an SKS for sale on a Facebook group and buddy wanted to trade me for his Versamax, which I declined. Then he asked me if I had any hunting rifles for sale so I decided to either get rid of him or make a mittful of cash off him. Told him that I had a #1H in 458 for sale. Sent him a few pics and then he asked me for a price. Last I heard of him! Some people make me laugh.

It would be a rare scenario having a buyer inquire after an SKS and walk away with a No.1! ;)

I'm partial to the 303, mine's taken 2 kinds of deer and a grizzly. The only time a follow up shot was needed was after I missed a 4 point muley at embarrassingly close range.

I'd love to have a stainless walnut 1A in 7x57.....the poor mans version of Ardents custom. That thing is incredible!

Hoping to see more stainless No.1's, either walnut or laminate, in the limited run offerings. Flanged rounds just seem right in the No.1 rifle, the extractor works well with these. Heavier calibers like the 9.3x74R and .45-70 are better suited for my hunting purposes. I find the stainless offerings rather appealing.

True. I had to sell my SKS because it would argue with my #1 in the safe and keep me up at night.

The Cold War is over, but we are starting a new era of conflict... so the arguing would only have gotten worse... I suppose cancelling the wifi and their social media accounts would have helped.
