** Your NEA102 build **

Why did they screw with this and the dust cover for the second batch :(

who knows but at NEA when you go retard you always go full retard

like there is absolutely no reason to have a unique setup of ears on your charging handle, like none

its gen2 not second batch, lets stick with the program

you were warned :)

Also, playing around with the stock handle and the BCM... that stocker is a pita to operate with its rough edges...

This phenomenon is also present on a few AR15 brands where the groove in the upper is larger to accommodate all charching handles as the mil spec is limited.

Why did they screw with this and the dust cover for the second batch :(

I actually find no difference between first and second, for the dust cover. I have a first order rifle, dust cover works fine. If I force it fore or aft, I can see a small gap. But cover stays shut until I operate bolt.

It is not a hermetically sealed cover, FFS, people. Give me whatever you all feel is a rifle with a proper fitting dust cover, and I will show you how it will not prevent dust from getting into the ejection port. I can guarantee you that.

As for bolt release and other things, just look back at all the whining in the threads about how it needs ambi this and ambi that, and other things. When most of those whiners just ordering other parts, anyways. SFRC sent me an ambi CH, N/C to accommodate for some light shipping damage. Put it on and then took that POS back off for the stock one. Don't see how the ambi one thrills anyones pickle, or how you can't operate the factory one either right or left handed, unless you have some amputated digits, maybe. Whatever, to each their own.

At least BCL and SFRC seem to be addressing concerns. How is that going for the T81 owners? Oh yeah, that's it....... you have one option only, return your rifle. The super duper battle proven rifle, lol.
All I've heard it's that BCL/NEA warranty is solid. So what's the problem, people?

Machining marks in the barrel flutes..... oh, the horror! Affects nothing, other than OCD. Return your rifle of put it up on EE if that is such a problem for you.

Or, DON'T PRE ORDER. Wait until you can touch one for retail sale that you can touch and purchase on the spot, if it is for you.

I see people whining there are no specs, then whine further when it doesn't meet their spec after pre ordering. Really?

Or asking how you deal with warranty? I read the threads and registered with the manufacturer, just like you would for so many consumer products in today's age, right on their website.

But on CGN, all the experts on everything AR can't figure out how to register for warranty without an owner's manual, or instructions on how to do it? Experts indeed!

Why people like SFRC, Macabee, Canada Ammo, ATRS, etc., to name a few, want to bring exciting new things to the Canadian market is beyond me.

I know why I don't work in anything where I have to deal with the public, because I'd be broke after telling everybody to f off. Takes a special type to deal with the public, IMO.

Whatever, rant over.

well i like my after market parts sorry but thats just me
I have a couple of brands that have never failed me so I put those parts in as many rifles as possible

that being said my g2 has some proprietary stuff on it as well, i can live with that because it always worked, but I dont like unecessary heavy things or ugly things.

My dust cover has about 3/32” of play. It’s very easy to open, may as well just not have one.

Their warranty may be solid, but you have to pay for shipping to fix their QC issues which should have been caught before the rifle got sent out. How did my rifle get that scratch and still get sent out? It’s not worth the money to send it back to me, but it still shouldn’t have happened.

Machining marks in the barrel flutes..... oh, the horror! Affects nothing, other than OCD. Return your rifle of put it up on EE if that is such a problem for you.

I paid $1750+tax and expecting a rifle that doesn’t look like a junior high school kid put it together isn’t asking too much.

People are whining that there are no specs, because there is literally no communication from BCL on anything related to this rifle. All we have learned has been from guys putting up their own money and from Ryan. This gun isn’t on the BCL website!

Or asking how you deal with warranty? I read the threads and registered with the manufacturer, just like you would for so many consumer products in today's age, right on their website.

If BCL sent out an owners manual, we wouldn’t have this issue.

But on CGN, all the experts on everything AR can't figure out how to register for warranty without an owner's manual, or instructions on how to do it? Experts indeed!

My stuff in bold.

Mine arrived today and I tried to swap out the charging handle for a BCM gun fighter and no go....the tabs are slightly larger and don't fit into the charging handle rail. Looks like I may be searching for another. The stock charging handle is garbage and one handed operation from the left it binds up. Oh and the dust cover issue is alive and well. Other than that it looks pretty damn ###y. Just saw the other posts on the charging handle issue. Dremmel time I guess.

And I can dig that, also, to be honest.

None of my Harley's are anywhere near stock. But no bolt on garbage, either.

My gunsmith skills lack to do that.

So many threads here about AR being the Lego of rifles. Lego on dudes.

Well just bought one of the Raptor charging handles from Canada Ammo on sale. Figured what the heck. Worse case I get it and compare it to the stock one before modifying it. If I don't figure it worth modifying it can always sell it on the EE.

if you're not adverse to buying china parts (which comprise 90% of the furniture on this gun) this charging handle worked great on my gen 1, and was only $30.

Make sure to order with e-packed shipping option and you'll have it in two weeks.

That's a nice looking charging handle. And for the price I think I could overlook the part about it being Chinese.

So like a little kid I battled through the snow less than 24 hrs after receiving the rifle. Here are my impressions of the BCL102 from the second order. This is a heavy rifle, but shoulders well and the overall fit and finish is tight. Out of the box I stripped out the bolt and checked everything out, lubed it up and checked the bore. That’s it. Before I hit the range I added the following:
Leopold one piece base.
Vortex Strike eagle 1-8
Fab stock
A2 flash hider
Hogue grip (hate the stock A2 grip)
Magpul stubby vertical grip
Harris bipod ( but that’ll likely be removed to reduce weight)

First shots the trigger has a pretty standard creep and a little gritty. Definitely going for a trigger tech drop in.
I used the magpul 5/20 round that came with my rifle, no issues at all. I also ran 4 10 round xcr pistol mags, again zero issues.
The temperature was around zero , no wind , but the sun was killing me and made for a challenging time.

I ran about 80 rounds of Hirtenberger, .308 (7.62x51mm), FMJ, 147 rounds which ran flawlessly and I used those to get the scope somewhat dialed in.

I let the barrel cool for 15 min then fired a five round group at 100 meters using Hornady 168 gr BTHP Match.
Five round group and my third round was a flyer which kinda pissed me off. If I didn’t have that one the group would have been pretty good.

As the barrel got hotter the groups definitely opened up

The sun wasn’t helping and I wasn’t as methodical as I should have been.

I had zero malfunctions with the rifle and had two fail to fire but I’m chalking that up to the surplus ammo as the primer strikes looked solid
1TOoEhm.jpg

I then ran another 40-50 rounds centre punching a steel plate at 200 with little effort just using the surplus ammo. Roughly 150 rounds through the rifle this morning and it was flawless. All mags worked, ate the ammo like a champ.
Overall I’m really happy with the rifle. I have to see what I can do with my BCM charging handle which doesn’t fit which is a little annoying, but I’ll work that out with a little filing. Dust cover doesn’t stay closed, I’ll figure that out as well.

Changes to be made:
Trigger
Handguard to something like an SLR.

Sorry for the crappy pics.. using my phone and the lighting was brutal.

Good range day... even in the snow.

JP 22” 6.5 Creedmoor barrel 1:8 twist, black Teflon coated, XL length gas.
JP Thermal dissipator (Black).
JP Low profile .936 detent adjustable gas system regulator block.
JP XL length gas tube and installation tap.
Ergo tactical deluxe grip FDE.
Harris 9-13 bipod with tilt and podloc. Tacticalsupply harris talon feet.
ADM QD Bipod mount.
Larue QD mounted S&B 3-20x50 P4Lf.
Radian arms raptor charging handle. FDE.

Hopefully all of these parts are compatible. If you know of any conflict please let me know before I order the wrong components. (I have seen the issues with the charging handle already). I was hoping to get an internal dimension of the forend tube for clearance from one of you current owners. Alternatively I will look for a forend of appropriate length and internal clearance diameter. From what i can discern thus far from previous posts here, the rail height appears to be 2.06??? Armalite thread barrel nut??? Any other forend fittment specs I should specify when ordering?

Cheers for any feedback.
Dinger.
