No it doesn't. I do find the charging handle a bit narrow though, I will likely get an extended one or a larger latch in the future.
Gen 3 will as I understand it.

Hmmmm... needs some flames and pinstriping on that foregrip, maybe a ram air scoop for cooling and a candy apple metallic flake paint job and some chrome on the bumpers... oops wrong forum...

I went 542-1 a few days ago because an NEA by any other name is still an NEA..... But right now, at $1999.99, $250 bucks more gets me a proven .308 in my mind.....
That being said, I will get one if in a year or two once it's more proven and the price drops (and hopefully a 6.5 Creedmoor or a .338 Federal is available), I'll be putting a Bushnell Elite 2.5-10 on it, as it will serve as a hunting rifle. And damn it will be ODG!!!!!

11.2lbs, pretty light actually relatively speaking. It still balances well too.
Noone has tried it, but we suspect they will. The castle nut is staked, so remember to remove that stake before you start!

That's a great price. Did they recently go on sale? I'm curious as to whether we will start to see NEA/bcl have the same effect on the prices of NR 308s as we did on ARs when they started making them.

Google Kelly's Sporting Goods. He just dropped 50 bucks to under 2000, where I bought. I figured they'd sell out at that point. Still seems to have some.
And like I said, when the NEA... uhhh hem.... BCL102 drops, I will get one. But currently a 1999 542 just seems like a better deal. Even if the 102 may be slightly more accurate.

The 542 may be priced slightly better but if the mags are still $120/pc then don't waste your time.

Driller, was it an easy swap to put that Armalite handguard on?
It was. You just need a vise, ar10 vise block, and the right ar-10 barrel nut wrench for what you are doing. You should also have a torque wrench.
Anyone know where to source an AR 10 vice block and which one is recommended? Just the one that inserts into magwell or the one that surrounds the receiver? New to this platform
