It smells of butt hurt in here.
Yup I won't deny that I received a garbage rifle after a long wait and definitely have a bad taste in my mouth.
The guard does look more brownish in the picture..
I think it's a combination of weird lighting effect and a slight difference in the color.

Doesn't bother me at all, and even the difference between the BCL and Magpul ODG is not an issue (originally I wanted to go for black Magpul furniture, I'm actually glad I ended up with ODG instead).

JP Enterprises carbine buffer spring
Aeroprecision BCG with POF roller cam pin
SLR ajustable gas block
Magpul MIAD GRIP and CTR stock
Gieselle SSA-E trigger
Put a few hundred rounds through the rifle. 100% reliability with all mags...DPMS steel, XCR-M, Magpul 20s and Magpul M118LR 25s. The only ones that don't drop free are the M118LRs but they don't in any 308 AR I've tried.
Checked headspace on the Aeroprecision BCG and it's good to go.
Seems the perfect setting for the SLR gas block is 6 clicks from full shut off with all ammo I tried.
Was only shooting 150 grains out to around 300m. Mix of Hirtenberger, Federal XM80 and my bulk reloads. Best groups were about 2 moa from my reloads but I was mostly banging steel and getting the scope and gas block dialed.
I'm gonna work up a load with 168s next time I'm out and try to get some groups. I played around with some dummy rounds and I could load them to about 2.750 before they jammed into the lands. I'll update after some load development.

Just threw it together for a quick picture, Need to go back to work...lol...
Gen1 is the way to go

In a few more weeks ill have my Fulton Lightweight barrel and HP bolt
too much for my blood, Ill shoot out the factory barrel first, unless it's chamber reliability is garbage.
