I only have 2 hunting rifles. The one I always grab is my Weatherby in 7-08. I traded one of my 7-08’s for a 270 last summer and have only shot it to sight it in. Not sure if I’ll ever hunt with the 270 but I didn’t have one so...
I love the fit and feel of that Weatherby. It will be my go to for everything.

My two go to firearms are
1. Marlin 336 in 30-30 Tac Driver out of the box.... Got a good one
2. Rem 870 tacticool with Speedfeed youth stock w/pistol grip. White light up front thanks to picitiny rail... I've had this one for 20ish years and she just works...

Would have to be my Original Rem 700 mtn. rifle in 30 06 Ackley improved.
Almost 300 wm performance in a small light rifle, Kinda like packing a 22.Ackley 1.jpgAckley 2.jpg

Also have a tc encore in 375hh with 18.5” brl. This one seems to get a lot use as always comes along for the hunt. Scope and gun, sling around 7.5lbs. Without scope is 6.5lbs but is to much to shoot open sights unless really required

My go-to is a Browning A-Bolt that I bought new in 1992 or 1993. It's chambered in .280 Remington and was sub-MOA right out of the box with factory ammo.
I never cared for the original stock; I replaced that with a Boyds Platinum in Claro walnut and replaced the trigger spring with a Timney.
It's reasonably light, accurate and fits me. I've bought and sold lots of rifles the last 20-odd years but that A-Bolt is the one I reach for.
154 grain Hornadys, either Interlocks or SST's, or 140 Accubonds, and max loads of H4831 will shoot MOA and kill anything I'm interested in shooting.

It must be the tang safety or the short bolt throw.... :) I have the shorter version, a micro series 284win.

Winchester 94 - 67' centennial with open sights. Light, small and extremely reliable. Many a moose had been taken down with it by it's previous owner. Today even more versatile with leverevolution loads.

Last few years, it's been my dear old 94 (mid-50's) in .32WS. Before that it was my ugly, heavy old Czech 98 in 8x57, then rechambered to 8mm-06. Nothin' fancy.
