Your opinion: Sig P320RX or Canik TP9SFX

So I’m moving to red dot sights due to old eyes.

I love my CZ 75B New Edition, but don’t want to deface it with a dovetail adapter and elevated red dot, I prefer something that fits in the slide.

I’ve looked at lots of options, (don’t like glocks – nothing against them, just not the fit for me and S&W hasn't released a C.O.R.E V2.0 yet) and narrowed it down to Sig P320RX or Canik TP9SFX with a Vortex Viper red dot. Both are virtually identically priced.

As far as I can tell from reviews, the Canik comes with more goodies, a longer barrel and a great trigger whereas the Sig is, well, a Sig! No doubt better quality and the Romeo 1 optic is factory installed / warrantied, but it's not designed as a "sport gun".

Use is mainly 25 yard slow fire target right now, but wouldn’t rule out IPSC or IDPA in the future.

Your opinion?

the canik shoots nice, great trigger. Mine was 3.9 lbs consistently. I actually like the cocking handle.
looked at but have not fired the Sig. Felt nice in hand, I'd say a touch more refined but was unable to dry fire it.

I've been thinking about one of these too. My soon to be 59 yr old eyes have discovered that they really like red dots. ;) I like the idea that the sight comes premounted with the Sig.
While I've read really good things about the Canik as a gun, I've heard tell of issues with the provided sight mounts, screws etc.

What i'd like to see is the P320 X5 offered with the Romeo sight.

I would go with a SIG. Parts break and the downside to the Canik may well be part availability. I have read where Canik has had it's share of strikers breaking. The downside to the SIG is you either like the Romeo Optic or you get rid of the gun whereas the Canik will accept other Optics. The Canik trigger may or may not be as good as the SIG which is excellent. The SIG design has met the US Army requirements if that means anything.

I went with the Walther Q5 Match at more money but doing it all over again the SIG is less expensive and I am sure in my hands my results would be the same. It is the archer not the arrow.

The SIG has performed well in IDPA. Not sure what there is about it that doesn't make it a "sports gun".

Sig must have poor quality control. I just bought a 320RX. The trigger pull is nasty at over 9 pounds. It's horrible compared to my Walther Q5 match with a pull just over 5 pounds and far smoother. Haven't shot a Canik, so I can't comment on it.

My brother has a Canik TP9SFX and it is excellent. The trigger was great out of the box, and he can mount any optic he chooses (he went with a JPoint).

I've also shot the 320RX. Sig is nice, but the Canik trigger was nicer. I did NOT like the Romeo optic... I found it pales when compared to my RMR (or the JPoint for that matter...) It just seems cheap, and the dot was ruddy. My friend has gone through MANY batteries over the past year. I personally think SIG has not done themselves a service with their whole current line of RDS optics... IMHO they're Barska quality with Vortex+ prices because of the SIG nameplate.

Springer Precision makes a baseplate for the P320 which enables it to accept other optics.

I’d vote P320 RX, or P320 X-Five with Romeo1. MD Charlton is shipping the P320 X-Five with four magazines equipped with Springer Precision baseplates—really nice!

Also, there is a new 6 MOA version of the Romeo1 coming soon.

I should add in the greater scheme of things I would buy:

Walther Q5 Match. The best trigger if any striker fired gun I have shot matched with a Vortex Viper. (I intend to buy two extra strikers and slide stops to have on hand) (Bpught but not cheap)

S&W CORE with Apex FPB matched with a Vortex Viper. I would not wait for the Gen2 . The Gen1's are pretty darn good and you can always fill it up with Apex parts. You get Co witness sights which are a bonus. A BEST BUY

SIG 320 RX with the Romeo sight.

Canik Optic FS with a Vortex Viper (Finish is Cerecote so you will see wear on the finish if you shoot from a holster. I have no idea where you get new strikers or parts for this gun.

Ya the Canik is reffered to as a affordable Walther clone.

The recoil spring assembly from Q5 works in Canik....so pretty much has alot of same dimensions.

If you're planning to shoot IPSC production optics with the gun;

Check to make sure it's on the approved list first.

Had a p320 and a Canik tp9sf...neither had an optic...was looking at the sig again..though honestly ..I’d happily have either..ergos of the Canik are very good and trigger on mine was the best out of the box striker I’ve owned..that said...I kept the sig longer....decisions eh....lol

I have a Sig P320, shot it a bunch, used it for CDP, then bought a Canik TP9SFX, and I'm loving it. The Canik has the best trigger I've ever shot with, so crisp, and the reset so quick, light and predictable. Shot the my best match so far on the second outing with the Canik.

My honest opinion is no to either one of those and yes to the Walther PPQ five-inch. Best striker option out there right now, I think.

No doubt the Q5 match is a darling however, the gun by itself with no optic is more $$$$ than a fully equipped P320RX or TP9SFX with a Vortex Venom. That's getting a bit outside my current "casually terrorizing paper" budget.

And for Sailor723, Vortex and Burris have the same mounting pattern as Doctor, (and are half the price...).
