Your thoughts on the CZ-75 SP-01 Shadow

is the shadow a 1911 style gun?

any similarities?

The Shadow is a CZ SP01 with match trigger and hammer and fibre optic sights in 9mm. The SP01 is basically an improved CZ75 with bigger controls, full length dust cover and 1911 style safety.

Both are excellent guns, but if I was starting and on a budget I'd go the SP01 in a heartbeat.

I shoot Production with a SP01 Shadow. The SA trigger on mine is amazing.

As for not outshooting your Edge, I'd wager you that if we both started in SA that it would, unless we're both world class shooters. The trigger difference means squat. If the Edge did pip it to the finish, it would not be by much.

Change the spring and then you will see word amazing from different angle
Shadow is a great buy, but not close to any STI product.
I own both and can compare, and I am not partial, just comparing.

Agreed. I am familiar with the Edge, although have never owned one since I don't shoot Standard.

My point was not that they are made to the same standard, but I would say that for the average shooter you will not see a big difference in overall score / time between them shooting a SP-01 and an Edge.

I was responding to the post that said that the Edge will outshoot the SP-01. Maybe from a bench, but in the hands of a shooter my point was this: not necessarily.

Another plus for owning a CZ Shadow, if one wanted, they could shoot standard or production with the same gun.
