Could be the best deal, finally finding your "Holy Grail", your biggest surprise - you name it.

For me, either a G98/40 with Serial # 1a or a Husqvarna M96 "Shooting School" rifle with nice Tiger Striped wood.

Hmm... tough call.

Maybe this?

I'm really happy with the 1914 Home Guard Mk. III Ross. Probably the nicest conditionned service pattern Ross I will ever own.

Hmm... that's tough, it's been a (damn) good year for the collection. I think it would have to be my Canadian-issued Lee-Enfield Mk.I*.

Probably this baby:

Although I also picked up a G43, which I've been lusting after for ages, so it's a close tie..... no pics of the '43 yet, but with the addition of the ZF4 scope I picked up for it, it might take the cake.

How does he get all those wonderful toys?

I don't have a top find this year, other than to say I found a great hobbie and met a lot of really swell folks along the way.

I got my RPAL just last Feb. and by my trader rating, you can see it has been a pretty busy yr. LOL and that's just from this site!! Let's just say, I'm trying to make up for a lot of lost time and am having a ball in the prosess.
Thanks everybody!!

I wish you all, A Happy New Year,
Pete

No "huge" finds for me in 2007. I pared down my collection a bit, got rid of some "doubles" and filled a few gaps.

I did however take out two of my 2007 purchases out today to shoot them for the first time.

The first on the bench was a T99 Arisaka. I had about two boxes of Norma 7.7 Jap ready to go. I started at the pistol range at 25 yards, (Range 1 at EOHC is Ok'd for centerfire).
I got three shots off and noted the front sight was off and needed to be adjusted. I tried this and knocked the follower plate off...:bangHead: so there ended the day for the T99....

The second on the bench was a Swiss K31 I picked up from TradeEx back in May. I have never shot it but did find some ammo for it this deer season at GunMart. Anyhow, I discovered the K31 mag holds 6 rounds so I shot off six. This is a fine shooting iron! I never much cared for the K31 because of it's "washing machine part looking bolt". I have changed my mind and actually am quite fond of it now.

I moved onto the 100/200 yard range, doned the snowshoes and put up a target at 100 and 200 yards. I had only one box of 7.5x55 so I took seven shots at 100 then seven shots at 200. I was pleasantly surpried with my shooting. Not a record and certainly not my best day but very nice grouping with a new gun, first time shooting it and factory ammo, (even though it was Norma).

Anyhow...:needPics:

So...

Here are the two irons with the targets:

The 25 yard target..note the T99's 7.7's are low to the left. The 7.5 Swiss were almost all touching...okay it is only 25 yards but...:)

Here we have the 100 yard target (7.5 Swiss only). Not bad, again from the bench.

And at 200 yards (7.5 Swiss only). One did not make the paper. And what the hell, the excuse wheel says my glasses were starting to fog up due....;)

So it looks like I might be using the K31 at the next EOHC Milsurp shoot...:D

I'm off to Trade-Ex next to order myself some 7.5 Brass.

Cheers

Kind of a slow milsurp year for me, but it did start off with three MN carbines.

This one's my fave, a '44 Tula M44 in war-time beech laminate stock and built on a hex receiver:
