Yugo M48 Review

One of my first Mausers was a Yugo 24/47. It shot fine, and I liked it before I started getting into Swede and German made Mausers...the roughness really starts to become apparent.

I have a m48bo. great shooter and not bad as a deer rifle. I'm shooting Yugo ball and Turkish ball in it. I'm sitting on 1800 rounds of 8 mm and its my only 8mm so it should last a while. great review. i agree on the sights. buy a white paint marker and problem solved.

That just means you didn't shoot it enough to smooth everything out - lol :)

Thats one way of doing it to get some good brass. Ordering new brass isn't much cheaper but it gives you several hundred cases to start with right off the bat. I also find that the heavier loads are not very accurate to the med loads. 170 or 180 gr does really well and doesn't pressure up your good brass too much.

Ive been having great success using the S&B brass, 150 gn sierra projectiles, and 46 gn of IMR 4064. I measure the O-Give and it seems pretty consistent between my M48s. It might be my measurement technique (push until tension, minus 5 thousands) but it sure tightens the groups. I got to 5 reloads on one set of brass before stresses started to show on one casing and I tossed the batch of 20.

Ive purchased some Sierra 170 gn projectiles and will continue with the IMR 4064 until it runs out and try the Hogdgen H4895 and see how it performs. Ive settled out with the rifles and I don't wince anymore and these rifles are a joy to shoot. They still feel like Im going to bring the range walls down with the concussion but a joy to shoot nonetheless.
