I grabbed one from him at $695.. then the price went up. But tradex has shooter grade and beater Yugos for cheaper price still.

Yugo are good shooter, i prefer them, Bought 4, cleaned one for a shooter and am keeping the 3 others for my 2 great grandkids, 4y/ 6 mo and one extra for fun.

And possibly 20 hours of cosmoline removal labour.

One of the most cosmoline covered SKS i ever cleaned.

3 hours in the sun, and one hour of wiping before being able to break it dow.

Man, once cleaned they really justify their price.
YMMV.

Look a this BNBB ( brand new babyyy ).
Tradeex sended me some mint ones.

tradex has a few left, from $500 - 600 but they described them having some surface rust, so how bad? visible?

Yes, but it’s a labour of love! Mine was so glued solid that I had to use plenty of mineral spirits before being able to remove the stock.

My only other rifle that was glued as much with cosmoline was a Yugo M48 Mauser. I could not even pull the bolt out... lol

I'm going to go through the same exercise soon.. did you use mineral spirits to clean it? Is it safe to use it on wood in general?

Omg. They're an sks. A regular numbers matching sks shouldn't be over 350, and a beat up non matching should be 200 max. Do people realize how many of these were made, and how many keep coming into the country?

A sunny and hot day, you need a carbadge can and green carbage bag, put the rifle in the bag, put the bag in the carbadge can let sit 2 or 3 hours.
There will be a lot of liquid cosmoline at the bottom of the bag.

Now the cosmoline is liquid on the rifle. i use a ton of scott towel until clean, now your are ready to take down in pieces, soapy hot water and you clean each piece, let dry in the sun an hour.

Et voila. Cheers.

Thanks, I'll try it. Sunny days are a bit scarce in Raincouver though :)

Yugo used to be worth significantly more when they were much scarcer. I think the Russian and Yugo will continue to equalize in value.
