Zastava m70 in 308

Griesbach mentioned to me that they are very hard and difficult to work with
Interesting. I haven't done any serious work to mine other than some filing to clean up lines but I didn't find it hard at all. The gunsmith that installed the Recknagel 3 position safety didn't have any difficulty either.

A friend from another site has a fondness for the 9.3x62. A little curious, I thought I 'needed' one and decided to go for it, in an 'inexpensive' package. I ordered a M-70 Zastava full wood Mannlicher style carbine in 9.3x62 from Tradex. In prep, I acquired a selection of bullets to do some load testing. Part of this from a local friend, was a quantity of new Lapua brass and PRVI 285gr bullets. I was amazed(y) at the accuracy of my first few loads using those 285gr PRVI!! So much so, I have yet to try any others. After those results, I decided I may need 'another' and picked up a identical 'mate' for the 9.3xc62, :)in 7x57.
I bought a Husqvarna commercial Mauser 98 in 9.3 x 62 from Tradex. Got dies, those same PPU 284 bullets and new PPU brass. Same results!! It may not be the rifle, but the calibre I load to the top end of the data. Love mine; it hurts so good even with a recoil pad.

I’ve read that the triggers can be set up nicely. I haven’t had a chance to set it up. Heading to the range on Tuesday to see if I can tighten up the groups. Will post picks then.
I was able to tune my trigger, but definitely, get written instructions; and be aware that setting up the safety will likely be required. Do it last. After adjusting for pull, over travel and creep, my safety would not work. After adjustment it worked fine, but it took a lot of adjustment to bring it back to reliable functioning..

I had a couple of them, blued/walnut in 7x57 and SS/Syn in 7x64.
The blued 7x57 was pretty sloppy and rough in the action, didn't really like it and dumped it.
The 7x64 SS is pretty smooth and tight, shoots well, seems solid as I flattened many primers working up loads lol.
They are alright, I'd still take a PH or HVA 98 over them any day.
