Gonna buy a Z98 in .308 with a synthetic stock, any impressions? Not much on line. There is a Youtube video of a guy showing it off in 300WSM and a wood stock. He was impressed especially given the cost of $450.

I'm sure the action is nice, as the M48a I have is awesome, but how about the synthetic stock? Stiff enough for a bag rest?

Any comments would be welcome!

There has been a few of these threads in the last few months. If you take a looky poo you will see they have good reviews, folks like the action and construction but say that although the wood is decent, it could be a bit more refined.

I have two. One Interarms mark X Mauser in .308 and a Remington 798 in 7mm Remington Magnum. I love them both. They are both made in Zastavia which means "Red Flag" in Serbian, but dont let that fool you. They are excellent hunting rifles that wont let you down. I could tell you about their pro's and cons till the cows come home. but their quality far outweighs their cheap.
Dont think of them as cheap, more so as inexpensive. Check my avatar, he was shot off hand at 234 yds on a dead run with my 798. They work as long as you do.

Well I checked all the threads, people have asked the same question over and over again about the quality of the synthetic stock, but no one really answered. One guy said like a Savage 111, on guy briefly said a solid platform for the gun.

Anyone have a synthetic stock on one of these?

Where can you get em for 450$?

The only place i can find them on the net (although they are walnut) is Epps @ 598$.

Just curious. From what i've been told they sound like a good deal.

EDIT: Found some at trade-ex too. Checkemout!

Meaning if I buy one in .243Win...its kinda a barrel burner round and if I can replace the barrel one it gets shot out so to speak

Barrels get screwed on right?

KK cool, thanks.

Barrel changes are something I have yet to do...so I was unsure if certain guns were not able to do it OR needed custom made barrels that would be 3x the cost of a new, replacement gun.
