A close friend of mine recently had his Conquest 3x9 pack it in. [300 Win Mag. SPS Remington] Wouldn't keep zero. When we took it off and shook it, you could hear it rattle inside. He talked to Zeiss about it and they requested that he send it back to them in the USA for repairs. Here is the good part....He will get it back next May or so, according to them.  Additionally the hassel in getting it back across the line. :( Glad I don't own any. He says it's his last as well. Regards, Eagleye.

not good...

I might have to do some more research, I was considering a 4x Conquest for my new .338. I assume that there aren't any repair/warranty depots in Canada for Zeiss?

hmmm, that does not sound good. Considering their price tag, Leupold may be getting some more business. From what I hear they and Bushnell's warranty is fantastic and easy to deal with....

It's a sad state when how warranty issues are handled becomes the #1 deciding factor in buying a scope.

I couldn't agree more, as i have a great many scopes from all the various manufactures never once thought about where it would have to go for repair, guess I have been lucky. FS

I have dealt with Zeiss warranty service when a scope was involved in a horse wreck. The scope was returned to me in about three weeks at no charge, even though the damage was not due to a defect in the scope.

Pretty sure Gentec does warranty for Zeiss in Canada. Contact them first...

This is an interesting thread....

I have my choices nailed down to 3 scopes.

The 2.25x16 Bushnell Elite 6500 with DOA reticle

The Zeiss 4.5x14 Conquest with Rapid Z 800(or 1000)

Leupold VX3 4.5x14 with CDS.

I am leaning towards the Zeiss.....but now I am wondering...

I am starting to think the Bushnell might be best choice?

I am pretty sure the CDS system works much like the Custom GreyBull Precision Leupold optic seen here...

I would go with Leupold. Best in the business for warranty bar none.

And it gets used a whole lot more than with Zeiss.I know of several Leupold variable scopes that were sent back, because the magnification adjusters were extremely difficult to turn.Sure they are fixed, but they shouldn't be shipped out and sold like that in the first place.

There's no comparison! VX3 is the only way to go. But if you like problems and hassles...by all means.

I have owned four Zeiss scopes, six Swarovski scopes, two Kahles scopes, five Bushnells,a Weaver,a Simmons,a Nightforce, and about a dozen Leupolds. The only scope that I ever sent back was a Zeiss that was involved in a horsewreck, and there were no problems or hassles at all.The service was prompt with no charge at all, even though the scope was damaged and not defective.I had two Leupold variables that I could barely turn the magnification ring, but rather than send them back,I sold them.In fact,I no longer own a single Leupold scope, since I replaced them all with scopes that I prefer.
When I was in the market for a new scope for my first Cooper rifle,I compared the Conquest, the vx3,the Swarovski av,and a Kahles. The Kahles and Swarovski appeared to have equal optics, with the Conquest close behind, and the VX3 brought up the rear.I chose the Kahles since it was over $250 cheaper than the Swarovski, and was slightly shorter in length.

i have had a zeiss scope 4.5 to 14 conquest on a 300 rum and have had no problem with it. All you a Leupold is scope is a good optics it is second to Zeiss.
