Zhukov ak handgaurd

So would the stock just bolt onto a VZ 58 like normal or is there an adapter required?

I think an adapter could be made from a stormworkz or even from scratch.

The receiver portion of the stock that's meant to go in the AK receiver would need to be modified or removed.

I'm going to attempt to adapt both to fit my VZ58.

Be great if Magpul started making VZ58 parts and magazines.

Just looking at it some more the handguard retainer and sling loop will have to come off. And some minor trimming on the heat shield. No need to drill new holes for barrel clamps there gold where they got them.

Well lets get at it.

Oh its going on my cz 858.

Thanks ctcs.

What areas of the heat shield need trimming?

I've got one of these just waiting in my shopping cart, thanks for testing these for us. :)

Ok people.

First hack off the hand guard retainer, i used a dremal with cut disk. Watch your barrel, grind or cut off sling loop. There will be a piece of the retainer that will be stuck in between the barrel and gas block. Do what ya gotta do to get it out.

Then cut the back tabs on heat sheld like so. Cut on a 45 into the bottom corner. Then file to fit.

You will need two washers under the front barrel clamp in between the heat sheld and the bottom clamp so it sits level. File the side of the washer to fit.

We're not Done yet , so it fits like a dream but now to the upper hand guard. We're going to have to cut some of the heat sheld by the gas block to make the upper hand guard fit. But hers the thing the only handguard I see fitting is the nea upper hand guard.

More to come.

I guess this is the problem trying to get these US made parts intended for an AK to fit a Vz58. I thought it was going to be a bit more painless than this. I really like the look of that Zhukov folding buttstock, but the fore-end I can take it or leave it. I think I might go for another brand fore-end. I don't want to mention the other brand here, as I'm respecting CTCS's forum, and I don't think they sell them, but there is a brand made FOR the Vz58, by an ally, in the mideast ;),... which already fits. I had hoped this Magpul Zhukov set would slip in a bit easier without so much tinkering. I didn't realize the 2 chassis's, AK vs Vz58, were that different, but I'm a newb to them both, so I blame my ignorance and over-optimism. I guess I was confusing the compatibility of the CZ858 stuff versus this AK furniture with fitting a Vz58,... mistake on my part.
For the tinkerer's out there that's great, but this Magpul price isn't cheap enough for me to warrant the time needed to spend on getting the fore-end to fit. I think the buttstock likely requires less work than the fore-end so I may go for one of those.
Good effort by mattcwc, but I'll be watching from the sidelines now only, cheering you on. ;-D

Ok as for the upper hand guard we need to take a little bit off so the upper can fit inside.

The stock vz hand guard will work to. The hand guard has to be narrow enough to fit inside the plastic.

These tabs will have to go.

Run on over to the red rifle forum and share this mistical handguard with us :)
As for difficulty i give this a 2 out of 10.

Im not trying to promote any spicific upper handguard, it is what it is just letting people know what works.

Going to have to move the forward barrel clamp ahead a bit so the upper will go down

Drill two new holes.

And that's that folks.

It bulging out a little where it sits over the upper. Just remover some material from the plastic I guess and that's it.
I love it.

The plastic still feels solid without the tabs.
