Not sure if it will be a downpayment or full payment for the match but we are a tad sick of taking a day off of work to build a match only to have half the people cancel on us.
Full payment ahead of time... That's how all the major.. and minor (3-gun) matches I've attended run... And it's not a problem.
and usually these fees are a couple hundred bucks or more.
Deposits just add administrative work for whomever is looking after the match fees.
MD's shouldn't be the ones accomodating shooters whims...
'You wanna shoot... Pay up. 'You're not sure if you want to shoot or you're not sure you can make it... Then hope for a empty walk on slot "if" they're available/offered.
I've run prepaid matches and it's by far the best way to go.
Of course I've had guys not show up (without notice) and get their buddy who did show up to ask for his match fee back..
"Bob couldn't make it... Can I get his $25 back from ya...?
"Uh.... No. If Bob had called me before hand I could have given his slot to someone on the wait list"... He didn't bother so... I'm keeping his fee.
And before someone chimes in to whine about getting a refund on a match they missed because they were sick or their dog died... That's not really the MD's problem.
With regards to EESA...
Had I waited until a day or two before to chicken out of EESA's shotgun match last Sat. I would have sent Stormb. my match fee anyway.
The way I look at it if you sign up... You are taking a slot. Pay for it wether you use it or not.
Regarding the Zombie shoot... 'Was looking fwd. to an EESA 3-gun, but... I'll be in Vancouver that week on a family Vacay...
Have fun.
