Call me a traditionalist, but that's my favorite of yours so far H2O.
You've reduced the grip area with sandpaper?

Thank you.

I am using a wood file to remove large amounts of material quickly.
That is followed by sand paper to smooth everything out.

The CHU wood stock is very wide, especially in the grip area. More material needs to be removed.

I put the rifle in the USGI fiberglass stock pictured above for a shooting event last Saturday.
I have not shot an M14 in a traditional stock since my surgery in 2010.
My right hand, fingers, wrist & arm all ache today, but it's nothing a little trigger therapy won't cure ;)

I'll continue to work on the CHU wood as time permits, but I'm going to run with the fiberglass stock for now.
Pictured here with my Daewoo... I'll install a SHG and a RDS on the CQB-16 as funds become available.

That is a fantastic build idea! I am kicking around the idea of doing something like that myself this summer. That stock doesn't look like the typical synthetic one that comes on the run-of-the-mill $500 Norincos that are floating around recently; was that an after market stock or special order? Not sure if the standard Chinese synth stocks have the beef to do this mod? Any thoughts on other butt stock/pistol grip assemblies that might work or was the Magpul MOE pretty much the only decent option? One last question, does the Arms 18 cause any issues with casing ejections/breech clearing or bolt removal? Sorry for all the questions but I'm a newbie & inquiring minds want to know!

The stock is a original norinco that I have modded. The how to thread here http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/foru...500rd-Review-and-a-DIY-Mod-Stock-walk-through

The ARMS 18 is a great mount, probably the lowest mounting option on the market. The mount doesn't interfere with brass ejection and is mounted at 3 points. They run around $200 from Wolverine Supplies

Thanks for the link; I'm still learning my way around the forums & I see there is a crap load of info to search through! I like the idea of getting as low a profile scope mount as possible since I'm trying to avoid a cheek weld add-on so the Arms 18 is definitely at the top of my list now. Especially good to hear it hasn't caused any clearance issues.
