Epoxy around the Barrel?

I wouldn't do it. There's a cutout in the barrel extension. Epoxy could flow in to the lug recesses. The barrel gets really hot at the chamber and I think most epoxies would have trouble holding on. Personally I think the best approach to accurizing is the same as all semi auto rifles. Tighten things up. The set screw only causes accuracy issues if you don't know how to tighten it properly. There is a torque spec. Use a torque wrench and if the thread locker is worn out and not holding then apply more. If the crown is poop then recrown it or have it recrowned. Stop loading it with cheap garbage ammo and expecting match accuracy, handload or try quality factory loads. Put some quality optics on it if you cant achieve match accuracy with service rifle irons. If all that fails then the barrel is more than likely not up to snuff. My last XCR had no trouble holding 1.25" @ 100 yds with mild handloads and FMJ bullets. The barrel bolt was always torqued and never came loose. I swapped the OE brake for a YHM Phantom. No other accurizing was done. My next XCR is on the way, I'll see how it shoots when it gets here. Maybe I'll pick up some match bullets and give it a go.

WHAT! Impossible. XCR is a 4 MOA gun.

you were the one telling me to buy a parts kit with no guarantee of anything other than taking my money and buy a used ACR from the EE which was overpriced, sage advise.

I suggested you do exactly what I did which resulted in me having a non restricted ACR with Geissele trigger for $2500. If I only wanted a single caliber like you do I could have actually done it cheaper had I gone with a custom barrel through my buddy who builds barrels for me instead of buying a used Herron barrel. I paid $850 for my 223 barrel because it came with most of the gas system which I knew I would need with future conversions I had planned. I can have quality match grade stainless barrels built for around $500 which I've made clear to everyone and offered to help anyone with their build.
Ian will actually be at a disadvantage building your 450 barrel since he's never built one and will have to figure out all the details as he goes while 1911A1 already has a reliable system built which has been working great for months. But your too paranoid to buy a restricted firearm in case the government ever decides to come take it away even though you will have it reclassified and removed from the records. You don't trust people unless they are big name companies like Herron so you will end up paying more even though you say picking up a used rifle for $2000-$2300 is overpriced. Now you will pay $2800 + tax for the rifle then add $1000-$1200 for the conversion from Ian just to end up in the same place we could have got you for under $3000 including reclassification which would have left you plenty of cash to upgrade the trigger and buy some ammo and still had cash left over.
Just so you know, not owning restricted firearms isn't going to save you when they come for our guns. If you have a PAL your door will be kicked in and your house will be searched just like the rest of us. All restricted will do is tell them to look for a few specific items as well as anything else they can find.

Be sure to post some pics of your 450 when you get it, I expect it to be a few months of waiting though.

Agreed. Doesn't matter if you have registered firearms or not. They will be going to every pal holders house.

There were no ACR's on the EE for $2000-2300 at the time and there still is not from anyone who responds to their own ad with anything decent.

A barrel fom your buddy doesn't give me a working rifle, I asked for a price for a working rifle from 1911A1 and he said he could not do it and would get back to me, well guess what, Ian got ready to build it over the last few months and 1911 has yet to reply.................

You can do it cheaper than Ian in less time you say? I want a complete working 7.62x39 conversion as well so lets see if you can.........I am ready to buy now, cash in hand

I own restricteds and non restricteds, who cares if someone comes and kicks your door in, at that point you got worse things to worry about, you seem to have a vivid imagination because I have never posted about worry of registration only that there is an advantage to buy a NR platform from the get go to not have to do the paperwork/wait/have an RPAL/sell barrel.

Hopefully they get some more jails built in time for that so we can all have comfy cells rather than bing crowded. At the point of the police getting warrants to kick in your door you are already a criminal and will be arrested.

Why would they need more jail cells? I never said anything about arresting anyone or anyone being charged. We were talking about confiscation.

when confiscation goes to the point of your door being kicked in (as posted by CR5) for a search the period to turn them in willingly has already expired making you a criminal. A warrant of that type is not given out by the courts on a whim, they have already supplied the crown/judge with enough information to make the judge believe a crime has taken place for him to allow forced entry.

We are not living in a police state/communist country are we yet?

Very true. Didn't think of it like that. But what if someone that doesn't have an rpal just a pal says I don't have any firearms. Do you think the RCMP would take their word for it? (Honest question)

if you are there and say that to the police you are obviously cooperating with them so no need to kick doors unless they just don't like you.

How much clearance or play is in the fit of the barrel to receiver on these guns out of interest?.Is it loose enough to be possibly tightened with a wrap or shim of stainless or brass shim stock?Just curious.Dieseldog!

They're a sloppy fit, not sure on the tolerances. A machined bushing could work provided the specs are held close enough from rifle to rifle.

How would one keep the bushing in place? Are we talking about a slip fit supernova? Id be willing to give it a try.

With a slight interference fit, the barrel bolt should provide enough tension to hold a bushing in place. As they come from the factory, the barrel extension is a sloppy fit with side play before being tightened. Roughing up the surface some would increase friction and if that doesn't work there's always bearing and sleeve setting compounds. I don't have one to look at right now but when my new one gets here I can put some more thought into it.

Oh you'd be surprised. As a lawyer, I can tell you that it doesn't take much to obtain a warrant when the word "firearms" is mentioned...

Excellent, I'll have to remember which one to take to battle and which to bring when Im assaulting stuff.
