Christensen Arms = lemon, stay away!

Hello all

We at Wanstalls would like to extend our apologies to the individual who currently is having issues with his Christensen Arms. Unfortunately in some cases firearms come from the factory with issues and in rare cases we have an issue like this arise. We have been working with Christensen Arms to get the parts required into the country as fast as possible but unfortunately as 2 firearm companies dealing internationally there is endless paperwork and red tape when parts/firearms cross the border regardless of how big or small.

We are not a manufacturer so we do not have control on how firearms are made, but as a retailer we stand by what we sell and will go to endless lengths to insure customers are taken care of correctly.

We strive to provide the best in costumer service and do not believe in cutting corners, thusly the factory parts had to be ordered, and the originals where not repaired or replaced with off brand parts.

Again we extend our apologies to "mikethebike" and are working hard to rectify the issues.

Cheers

Wanstalls

^So Does this mean If Mike is not satisfied with this firearm that you would offer a full refund? Because if this happened to me I would expect that to be an option.
From all that has been said by the OP of this thread I would think the only way to rectify this customers issue would be to offer a full and complete refund.

All fine and good, but I'm not interested in a refund, if I was I would not have decided to buy the rifle in the first place. I just want a functioning rifle, as advertised and sold, nothing less, nothing more.
I'll be patient, but I'm not happy.

I can understand the OP's disappointment and frustration however I can understand the position the retailer/importer is in also.
I have a friend that purchased a 1911 pistol from a manufacturer with a very good reputation.
There was a slight issue with the pistol and it needed to go back to the manufacturer for some fitting and refinishing.
It took nearly 11 months to get all the paperwork done and get the pistol back in his hands.
The actual work took only a few days to complete.

One issue is that firearms are not like DVD players because they are serialized and registered.

I hope for the OP that the parts arrive soon and correct his problem.

If the problems with the rifle cannot be corrected and another round of parts must be ordered I would then expect the retailer/importer to step in and take responsibility.
Additional delays would be unacceptable.

Wow, that is pretty unfortunate. I've been wondering about an AR for a while, I guess there is no point in shelling out the big bucks on a first AR. I don't care if this is "part of the manufacturing process," if you spend that kind of money, that gun better have gone through some extensive quality control...

You're fine going with a known manufacturer like lmt, kac, or noveske. 100% quality and the stand behind their product.

Christensen is kind of a fringe boutique type manufacturer.

It's a product from a manufacturer, Rma it, if you let a smith touch it first, the factory might wash their hands of it, for a 3100 gun your worried about shipping? Bust it down, wrap it up, ship it out

On one hand you would think it would only require a minimal amount of paperwork to send the gun Stateside. On the other hand the thought of getting it fixed locally seems far more attractive, until you factor in that most places don't want to carry spare parts for rare guns ( in Canada ) and they probably don't even have another one in stock to scavenge parts from. This is an unfortunate lesson for us all to benefit from. Ask if they have spare parts on hand or are there other rifles the same on hand. I would be interested in how difficult it would have been to send the gun back to the States for repair.

Just get your money back FFS.

They offered it. Take it and move on.

No they did not offer money or a replacement, Wanstalls did call me on Friday, after reading this post, to correct my expectations on when i should expect my rifle to be repaired in which case likely not soon or I could get the rifle back now in its current state.

I think in all fairness they are doing their best to resolve this embarrassing situation with their local resources and the shipping/border wait times involved with Christensen arms in Utah.

Unfortunately that doesn't solve the problem that i still have no functioning rifle and that i am still very much not happy.

My first reaction was to tell you to be patient and they will get this rifle repaired however since they contacted you and it was not to tell you that your rifle is ready I'm suspecting that it may take several months to get the parts in to repair it.
Have they told you what they would do in the event that these parts don't solve all the issues?

I wonder at this point if there are any consumer protection laws (warranty of merchantability) that may help you get your money back.
You paid money for a product which you intended to use.
You are out your money and the use of the product which you have purchased.

For example if you bought the gun to compete in CQB matches.
You now are out the money and still cannot compete.
Maybe this is something for small claims court since you are both in the same province and there can not be a dispute of venue.

They didn't offer you a refund????. Well that is not at all good. I cant say that I am impressed with Wanstalls at all. I will add them to the list that includes badger arms of companies not to deal with.
