Cast Bullet ####

I use alu gas check and NRA formula sold by Dragon Lube.

Those boolits are made out of lead softer than WW- made a lot of difference(for better of course).

Tried these out last night. Unsized,double tumbled, fired out of Schmidt Rubin's, one in 7.5x55 and the other in 308. No tumbling and NO leading over 5 grain's of 700X
 
Zuke that's pretty surprising you're using a bullet possibly .007 over bore diameter depending on what your bullets are dropping at. Figured that would be too much over bore diameter to be safe. Hows the accuracy with these bullets? You must have to seriously bell the case mouths to prevent shearing? I'm intrigued by shooting pistol size bullets in rifles and have thus far experimented a bit with the Lee 311 93gn bullet in one of my SKSs. Accuracy wasn't the best and I can't help but think I might need a fatter bullet to make this work properly. Also interested in the opposite, for example a rifle sized bullet in the 7.62x25 shot in a TT-33. Wonder if anyone here has any experience with that?

I'm sure alot of people like myself have used Berry's plated .308 110 grain bullets for the M1 carbine in 7.62x25. Worked great at pistol distances.
Dunno if that counts- it is a carbine after all, not a full power rifle.

Boolit's are .314/.315. I use a LEE flaring die that I set for each type of brass. I screw the die in, back out the knurled aluminum depth adjustment then put the brass as far up as it'll go.I then turn in the depth till I see the press handle move then I raise the handle, and screw in the depth adjustment 3/4 of a turn.
 
Cool Zuke. I use the same system as you and find it works great. Just wanted to confirm that you were indeed using bullets that are .007 even .008 over bore diameter. Never heard of anyone doing that before. Is this something you'd only do with pistol sized bullets in a rifle possibly to guarantee proper sealing in the bore and stabilization of such a small for cartridge bullet?

Zip was looking at more in the 150gn area. Subsonic and most likely hand fed into the chamber.
 
Naaaa, I'm just lazy and don't see the need to size something if I don't need to. I tried these and was surprised that they worked as well as the did. I'm gonna load up some more and try them at longer distance's.
I've tried paper patching to larger dia's and they alway's seemed to work. .319 dia in a 303 Brit and 472 in my Martini Henry when a 454 boolit's tapped down the bore has a lot of rifling engraved.
Nothing is written in stone. You can ask around all you want and get a lot of opinion's but if you just try it yourself, you'll know for sure.
Next up are 32 full wadcutter factory in the same 2 rifle's.

NOE .269 gets 50/50 NRA formula (sold by Dragon Lube) but I tried few times tumble lubing with loss of accuracy and gummed-up seating die.

I generally don't have much use for TL with notable exception of LEE TL .314 boolit-that baby ROCKS in 7.62x54R,7.5 Swiss and 308Win.
 
I just finished a marathon casting session. I borrowed my friends MEI Master Caster and after over twelve hours this weekend I ended up with 68lb of 147gr. 9mm's (about 3200 rounds) and 77.5lb of 130gr. RNFP .38's (around 4100 of 'em).

I do about 1000 bullets a day cast and sized using a ladle and a Lyman lubesizer. That's 4 to 8 hours depending on the bullet and about as much as i want to do in a day. There is an equipment upgrade in my future, I hope.

Two cavity molds should be outlawed.

Those are all Lee .40 cal pistol bullets and both size Lee slugs and the 525 grn Lyman. Pain to cast.... awesome to shoot. :rockOn:

Get the 6 cavity molds! Absolute lifesavers!

Also, I cast a pile of #4 buck for Beaver Defence work.... You need 2 casts to fill one shell. Ungh!

I am going to try that powder coating for sure! Where do you get the powder? Any auto store?
 
I get mine from powder365.com

Kawasaki green and Tool blue stick really good with the tumble method.
